A red phosphorus-graphene nanosheet hybrid is reported as an anode material for lithium-ion batteries. Graphene nanosheets form a sea-like, highly electronically conductive matrix, where the island-like phosphorus particles are dispersed. Benefiting from this structure and properties of phosphorus, the hybrid delivers high initial capacity and exhibits promising retention at 60 °C.

High quality patterning of single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) transparent conductive films is achieved by a lift-off aluminum interlayer method, which has the advantage of resulting in contamination-free and damage-free SWCNTs. The obtained patterns preserve the electrical properties of the SWCNT films and show promising applications in flexible high frequency electronic and display devices.

A method of fabricating sol-gel quantum dot (QD) films is demonstrated, and their optical, structural and electrical properties are evaluated. The CdSe(ZnS) xerogel films remain quantum confined, yet are highly conductive (10(-3) S cm(-1)). This approach provides a pathway for the exploitation of QD gels in optoelectronic applications.

Self-assembled microwires of terephthalic acid (TPA) and melamine are prepared through the evaporation of water in a solution mixture of TPA and melamine. The microwires were characterized by using scanning electron microscope (SEM), attenuated total reflection infrared (ATR-IR) spectra, and cross-polarized optical microscopy (CPOM). The TPA•M microwires showed semi-conductive properties.
