We present an idea for a nanodevice in which an arbitrary sequence of three basic quantum single qubit gates-negation, Hadamard, and phase shift-can be performed on a single electron spin. The spin state is manipulated using the Dresselhaus spin-orbit coupling intrinsically present in zinc blende materials. The electron trajectory within the device is controlled by voltages applied to a multipl...

We report preliminary results of our H-band survey of the Chandra Deep Field South (CDFS). The observations were made using SofI on the NTT, and cover 0.027 square degrees with a 50% completeness limit ofH =20.5, and 0.17 square degrees with a 50% completeness limit of H =19.8. We used SExtractor to extract sources from our fields. In total we have detected 4819 objects. Star-galaxy separation ...

This paper obtains solitons and other exact traveling wave solutions to magneto-optic waveguides that maintains Kudryashov’s law of refractive index using the new mapping method computer algebraic systems (CAS) such as Maple or Mathematica. These are important for understanding behavior in telecommunications, optical computing sensing. Dark solitons, bright bright-dark combo singular periodic o...

BACKGROUND Determine HIV Combo (DHC) is the first point of care assay designed to increase sensitivity in early infection by detecting both HIV antibody and antigen. We conducted a large multi-centre evaluation of DHC performance in Sydney sexual health clinics. METHODS We compared DHC performance (overall, by test component and in early infection) with conventional laboratory HIV serology (f...

Touch screens are a popular method of interaction with information systems embedded in public kiosks. Typical information systems are used on desktop PCs and therefore restricted to having a mouse as the selection device used to interact with the system. The purpose of this paper is to investigate how effective a touch screen overlay is in selecting typical graphical user interface (GUI) items ...
