The necessary condition for eigenvalue values of a circulant matrix is studied It is then proved that the necessary condition also su ces the existence of a circulant matrix with the prescribed eigenvalue values Introduction An n n matrix C of the form C c c cn cn c c cn cn cn c cn c c cn c is called a circulant matrix As each row of a circulant matrix is just the previous row cycled forward on...

As an emerging metal-free semiconductor, covalently bonded carbon nitride (CN) has attracted much attention in photocatalysis. However, drawbacks such as a high recombination rate of excited electrons and holes hinder its potential applications. Tailoring the crystallinity of semiconductors is an important way to suppress unwanted charge recombination, but has rarely been applied to CN so far. ...

Copy number variation has been associated with various autoimmune diseases. We investigated the copy number (CN) of the DEFA1 gene encoding α-defensin-1 in samples from Korean individuals with Behcet's disease (BD) compared to healthy controls (HC). We recruited 55 BD patients and 35 HC. A duplex Taqman® real-time PCR assay was used to assess CN. Most samples (31.1%) had a CN of 5 with a mean C...

We prove that a germ of a holomorphic map f between Cn and Cn ′ sending one real-algebraic submanifold M ⊂ Cn into another M ′ ⊂ Cn ′ is algebraic provided M ′ contains no complex-analytic discs and M is generic and minimal. We also propose an algorithm for finding complex-analytic discs in a real submanifold.

In general, the Gelfand widths cn(T ) of a map T between Banach spaces X and Y are not equivalent to the Gelfand numbers cn(T ) of T . We show that cn(T ) = cn(T ) (n ∈ N) provided that X and Y are uniformly convex and uniformly smooth, and T has trivial kernel and dense range. c ⃝ 2012 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

The structure of the title compound, tripotassium trans-tetra-cyanidodioxidotechnetate(V), is isotypic with its Re analogue. The [TcO(2)(CN)(4)](3-)trans-tetra-cyanido-dioxido-technetate anion has a slightly distorted octa-hedral configuration. The Tc atom is located on a center of inversion and is bound to two O atoms in axial and to four cyanide ligands in equatorial positions. The Tc-O dista...

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the efficacy of endosaccular Guglielmi detachable coil (GDC) treatment of unruptured aneurysms causing cranial nerve (CN) symptoms. MATERIALS AND METHODS Among a database of 218 patients whose aneurysms were treated using GDC, seven patients met the criteria for unruptured aneurysms presenting with symptoms and signs of CN palsy. Changes in CN symptoms before and after G...

The principal neurons of the cerebellar nuclei (CN), the sole output of the olivo-cerebellar system, receive a massive inhibitory input from Purkinje cells (PCs) of the cerebellar cortex. Morphological evidence suggests that CN principal cells are also contacted by inhibitory interneurons, but the properties of this connection are unknown. Using transgenic, tracing, and immunohistochemical appr...

Crigler-Najjar (CN) syndrome is a rare autosomal recessive inherited disorder characterized by non-hemolytic, unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia. The levels of serum bilirubin and the response to phenobarbital treatment have been used to classify CN syndrome into two types: CN I and II. Mutations of the UGT1A1 gene have been found to be responsible f...

Genomic instability plays an important role in most human cancers. To characterize genomic instability in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC), we examined loss of heterozygosity (LOH), copy number (CN) loss, CN gain, and gene expression using the Affymetrix GeneChip Human Mapping 500K (n = 30 cases) and Human U133A (n = 17 cases) arrays in ESCC cases from a high-risk region of China. We f...
