A precise guideline establishing chromosomal microarray analysis (CMA) applications and platforms in the prenatal setting does not exist. The controversial question is whether CMA technologies can or should soon replace standard karyotyping in prenatal diagnostic practice. A review of the recent literature and survey of the knowledge and experience of all members of the Italian Society of Human...

Big data validation and system verification are crucial for ensuring the quality of big data applications. However, a rigorous technique for such tasks is yet to emerge. During the past decade, we have developed a big data system called CMA for investigating the classification of biological cells based on cell morphology that is captured in diffraction images. CMA includes a group of scientific...

This paper proposes a new approach to the analysis of the steady-state performance of constant modulus algorithms (CMA), which are among the most popular adaptive schemes for blind equalization. A major feature of the proposed feedback approach is that it bypasses the need for working directly with the weight error covariance matrix. In so doing, approximate expressions for the steady-state mea...

A general problem with blind adaptation techniques is that they have poor convergence properties compared to the traditional techniques using training sequences. Having a multi-modal cost surface, blind adaptation techniques may force the equalizer to converge to a false minimum, depending on the initialization. The most commonly used blind adaptation algorithm is the Constant Modulus Algorithm...

Finite length CMA equalizers contain undesired minima termed Length Dependent Local Minima (LDLM). We note that for auto-regressive (AR) channels, the equalizer output is correlated with a delayed input at these minima. This property is then used to modify the CMA cost function and remove the LDLM in AR channels. Permission to publish this abstract separately is granted.

The constant modulus algorithm (CMA) can misconverge when the received two-dimensional (2-D) signal is derived from encoding a binary PN sequence. The distortion of the probabilistic symmetry of the transmitted constellation can be controlled by careful selection of the underlying binary PN sequence, thereby influencing the convergence behavior of CMA.

The CMA believes that prescribing data that identify individual physicians should be used in a manner that does not breach the privacy of patients or of physicians in their personal or professional lives. To address this concern, the CMA has developed the following set of principles for the compilation, sale and other commercial use of data on individual physician prescribers.

For decades, conventional chromosome analysis using G-banded karyotyping has been the gold standard for detecting cytogenetic abnormalities in fetuses for prenatal diagnosis and pregnancy loss. Although chromosome studies easily identify such chromosome abnormalities as aneuploidy (gain or loss of an entire chromosome), balanced rearrangements, and large unbalanced structural rearrangements, th...

RATIONALE Poor adherence to asthma controller medications results in poor treatment outcomes. OBJECTIVES To compare controller medication adherence and clinical outcomes in 612 adults with poorly controlled asthma randomized to one of two different treatment decision-making models or to usual care. METHODS In shared decision making (SDM), nonphysician clinicians and patients negotiated a tr...
