AIM To compare the effect of different chemical solvents on glass fiber reinforced posts and to study the effect of these solvents on the shear bond strength of glass fiber reinforced post to core material. MATERIALS AND METHODS This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of three chemical solvents, i.e. silane coupling agent, 6% H2O2 and 37% phosphoric acid on the shear bond strength of ...

Some studies have demonstrated that in vivo degradation processes are influenced by the material's physico-chemical properties. The present study compares two hydroxyapatites manufactured on an industrial scale, deproteinized at low and high temperatures, and how physico-chemical properties can influence the mineral degradation process of material performance in bone biopsies retrieved six mont...

Chemical incompatibility and low thermal conductivity issues of molten-salt-based thermal energy storage materials can be addressed by using microstructured composites. Using a eutectic mixture of lithium and sodium carbonates as molten salt, magnesium oxide as supporting material, and graphite as thermal conductivity enhancer, the microstructural development, chemical compatibility, thermal st...

We identify the chemical elements and element ratios that should be analyzed to address many of the issues defined by COMPLEX. We determined that most of these issues require two chemically sensitive instruments to analyze the necessary complement of elements. In addition, it is useful in many cases to use one instrument to analyze the outermost planetary surface (e.g., to determine weathering ...

The paper is devoted to study the ultrasonic impact on the biomass of natural raw materials, which were used for the creation a nanoporous carbon material (NCM), which was used as electrode material for electrochemical capacitors (EC). The dry shells of apricot seeds were a feedstock, which were modified by the chemical treatment in the phosphoric acid and part of them were impacted by ultrason...

Two-dimensional (2D) materials offer numerous advantages for electrochemical energy storage and conversion due to fast charge transfer kinetics, highly accessible surface area, and tunable electronic and optical properties. Stacking of 2D materials generates heterogeneous interfaces that can modify native chemical and physical material properties. Here, we demonstrate that local strain at a car...

Mechanical stress can drive chemical reactions and is unique in that the reaction product can depend on both the magnitude and the direction of the applied force. Indeed, this directionality can drive chemical reactions impossible through conventional means. However, unlike heat- or pressure-driven reactions, mechanical stress is rarely applied isometrically, obscuring how mechanical inputs rel...

The objective of this paper was to examine the effect that chemical modification of raw material had on fire resistance of two panel products, namely Oriented Strand Board (OSB) and particleboard and to investigate the influence of the anhydride type. The results have shown that chemical modification affected the ignition and glowing time of two wood panel products.

Cellulose nanocrystals are unique nanomaterials derived from the most abundant and almost inexhaustible natural polymer, cellulose. These nanomaterials have received significant interest due to their mechanical, optical, chemical, and rheological properties. Cellulose nanocrystals primarily obtained from naturally occurring cellulose fibers are biodegradable and renewable in nature and hence th...
