本稿では、都市郊外部における地下鉄延伸計画のバス高速輸送システム（BRT）での代替可能性について、京都市営地下鉄東西線洛西方面延伸計画におけるBRT代替事業の事業性調査を通じて検証した。本調査では、BRT代替事業の事業性について、費用分析における年度間費用分析および需要予測の結果より導出する年度間収支分析より検証した。その結果、年度間収支分析の結果が黒字であることから、本調査で検討した京都市営地下鉄東西線洛西方面延伸計画をBRTで代替する事業は、事業性がある可能性が高いことが明らかになった。本研究の調査内容から、都市郊外部における地下鉄延伸計画のバス高速輸送システムでの代替可能性は、「小型自動車利用からBRT利用へ転換する人数の割合」により影響されることを示唆するものであったと考察する。
