Cryoablation has been used to treat both benign and malignant breast tumors. In all but one published case, cryoablation in breast cancer has been followed by post-procedural tumor resection. We present a case of an 85-year-old woman with two nonpalpable breast cancers treated with cryoablation with 18 months of mammographic, ultrasound and histologic follow-up.
Infiltrating ductal carcinoma is the most common form of invasive breast cancer. It accounts for 80% of all types of breast cancer. We report an unusual presentation of histologically proven case of infiltrating ductal carcinoma of breast presented clinically as a small palpable areolar dermal lesion. Well defined hypoechoic cystic lesion in areolar dermis was present on ultrasound with a negat...
The association of breast cancer and abscess is rare in daily practice. The authors report a short series of 3 cases of cancer of the breast in nonlactating women presented as breast abscess, reviewing aspects in radiology (ultrasound and mammography), correlating them with the histopathology findings and the bacteriological profile of the isolated germs.
BACKGROUND Mammography, the gold standard for breast cancer screening misses some cancers, especially in women with dense breasts. Breast ultrasonography as a supplementary imaging tool for further evaluation of symptomatic women with mammographically dense breasts may improve the detection of mass lesions otherwise missed at mammography. The purpose of this study was to determine the increment...
Imaging for breast cancer comprises multiple options in terms of modalities and protocols that have to be applied in the clinical context by radiologists, referring GPs and medical imaging technicians across a broad patient population. We will discuss the roles of modalities such as mammography (standard 2D and 3D/ DBT), breast ultrasound as well as the suite of interventional options including...
Purpose of Review Probably benign (BI-RADS 3) causes confusion for interpreting physicians and referring physicians and can induce significant patient anxiety. The best uses and evidence for using this assessment category in mammography, breast ultrasound, and breast MRI will be reviewed; the reader will have a better understanding of how and when to use BI-RADS 3. Recent Findings Interobserv...
Most male breast problems are benign, and men with typical symptoms of gynecomastia or pseudogynecomastia do not usually need imaging. When a differentiation between benign disease and breast cancer cannot be made on the basis of clinical findings or when the clinical findings are suspicious for breast cancer, imaging is indicated. Mammography is useful in both identifying cancer and obviating ...
OBJECTIVES The purpose of this study was to review the imaging features of idiopathic granulomatous mastitis (IGM) with clinical and pathology correlation. METHODS With institutional review board (IRB) approval, a retrospective search of the surgical pathology database from January 2000 to July 2015 was performed. Clinical, imaging and histology findings were reviewed. Cases of granulomatous ...
