Ovine herpesvirus 2 (OvHV-2) causes malignant catarrhal fever in cattle, pigs and deer. We have observed intact circular and linear OvHV-2 genomes in infected T cell lines derived from cows and rabbits. Bovine T cell lines were predominantly latently infected but rabbit T cell lines supported OvHV-2 productive cycle gene expression and virus capsids were demonstrated for the first time.

Design secure Authenticated Key Exchange (AKE) protocol without NAXOS approach is remaining as an open problem. NAXOS approach [4] is used to hide the secret ephemeral key from an adversary even if the adversary in somehow may obtain the ephemeral secret key. Using NAXOS approach will cause two main drawbacks, (i) leaking of the static secret key which will be used in computing the exponent of ...

LaMacchia, Lauter and Mityagin [15] proposed the extended Canetti-Krawczyk (eCK) model and an AKE protocol, called NAXOS. Unlike previous security models, the adversary in the eCK model is allowed to obtain ephemeral secret information related to the test session, which makes the security proof difficult. To overcome this NAXOS combines an ephemeral private key x with a static private key a to ...

We describe a lattice attack on DSA-like signature schemes under the assumption that implicit information on the ephemeral keys is known. Inspired by the implicit oracle of May and Ritzenhofen presented in the context of RSA (PKC2009), we assume that the ephemeral keys share a certain amount of bits without knowing the value of the shared bits. This work also extends results of Leadbitter, Page...

INTRODUCTION East Coast fever, a devastating disease of cattle, can be controlled partially by vaccination with live T. parva sporozoites. The antigens responsible for conferring immunity are not fully characterized. Recently it was shown that the P. falciparum immunodominant protein UB05 is highly conserved in T. parva, the causative agent of East Coast fever. The aim of the present investigat...

1. The infectious agent of Colorado tick fever filtered through 181 mmicro membranes caused infection in hamsters and one volunteer. 2. In five out of seven instances, hamsters were infected initially with serum filtered through 24 mmicro membranes or the tick fever appeared on serial transfer. 3. We could not infect two volunteers with 24 mmicro filtrates, though these filtrates did cause infe...

Abstract The one-host cattle fever tick, Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) annulatus (Say), and southern microplus (Canestrini), are important ectoparasitic pests of cattle, Bos taurus L., mostly for transmitting the causal agents bovine babesiosis. Bovine babesiosis inflicted substantial production losses in United States before vectors were eliminated by 1943, with exception a Permanent Quarantine Zo...

Six human beings were inoculated with dengue and developed typical disease. Two of these were reinoculated and proved immune. The remaining four were later inoculated with Colorado tick fever. Three developed typical disease. The fourth, who remained well, has previously lived in an endemic area (Colorado). One patient was inoculated with Colorado tick fever first and later with dengue. He deve...

In an object oriented, distributed environment, program maintenance, which has never been the most predictable task, becomes even more uncertain. Java’s dynamic loading mechanism was developed to tackle some of the uncertainties. In doing so, it shifts the focus from the state of the sources to that of the binaries. This paper discusses some of the implications of that move.

This paper sketches the challenges to address to realise a support able to achieve an Ephemeral Cloud Federation, an innovative cloud computing paradigm that enables the exploitation of a dynamic, personalised and context-aware set of resources. The aim of the Ephemeral Federation is to answer to the need of combining private data-centres with both federation of cloud providers and the resource...
