Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) are a collection of bone marrow disorders with abnormalities in the differentiation of erythroid, myeloid and megakaryocyte lineages. The diagnosis of MDS is based upon cytopenia in the peripheral blood and morphological abnormalities in red cells, myeloid cells or thrombocyte lineages in the blood and marrow. Higher-risk MDS is associated with the presence of cl...

A method for Red Blood Corpuscles (RBCs) counting has been developed using RBCs light microscopic images and Matlab algorithm. The Dataset consists of Red Blood Corpuscles (RBCs) images and there RBCs segmented images. A detailed description using flow chart is given in order to show how to produce RBCs mask. The RBCs mask was used to count the number of RBCs in the blood smear image.

otic treatment was commenced. He later developed fever and bleeding at the stoma site. At this time his peripheral blood findings were as follows: Hb: 7.5 g/dL; WBC: 4.5 x 109/L; neutrophils: 58.8%; lymphocytes: 26.5%; eosinophils: 0.7%; monocytes: 13%; basophils: 1%; platelet count: 87 x 109/L. Peripheral blood smear showed dimorphic anemia and thrombocytopenia, as well as neutrophilic predomi...

Web-based synoptic reporting systems have been shown to improve efficiency, reduce turnaround time, and decrease reporting errors in reports of surgical pathology specimens and hematologic neoplasms and bone marrow. No such system has been previously described for the reporting of peripheral blood smears. We developed a Web-based synoptic reporting system composed of a knowledge base encompassi...

White blood cell (WBC) segmentation, which is important for cytometry, is a challenging issue because of the morphological diversity of WBCs and the complex and uncertain background of blood smear images. This paper proposes a novel method for the nucleus and cytoplasm segmentation of WBCs for cytometry. A color adjustment step was also introduced before segmentation. Color space decomposition ...
