This paper compares different approaches which provide guaranteed assurance to connection-oriented group communications based on the use of working and backup disjoint route sets. Specifically, we present experimental results showing the effect of disjoint backup route sets on mesh/tree/ring: (1) feasibility and (2) cost.
In the paper we present a concept of making backups in the cloud. We discuss the current practice of making backup copies of data enabling backups to be stored in a separate location and analyze the possibility of making backups in the cloud. We mainly focus on the economic and performance aspects of using cloud computing for making backup copies of data.
When backing up a large number of computer systems to many different storage devices, an administrator has to balance the workload to ensure the successful completion of all backups within a particular period of time. When these devices were magnetic tapes, this assignment was trivial: find an idle tape drive, write what fits on a tape, and replace tapes as needed. Backing up data onto deduplic...
In this paper we propose the concept of an end-to-end (e2e) SelfProtecting Multi-Path (SPM) as a protection switching mechanism that may be implemented, e.g., in Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) networks. In case of local outages, resilient networks redirect the traffic from a failed link over an e2e backup path to its destination. In this case, Quality of Service (QoS) can only be provided...
Fast Reroute Extensions to RSVP-TE for LSP Tunnels Status of This Memo This document specifies an Internet standards track protocol for the Internet community, and requests discussion and suggestions for improvements. Please refer to the current edition of the "Internet Official Protocol Standards" (STD 1) for the standardization state and status of this protocol. Distribution of this memo is u...
We evaluated the reliability of static and dynamic lumbar muscle endurance measurements on a BackUP lumbar extension dynamometer. Sixteen healthy participants (8 male; 8 female) volunteered for this investigation. Fifty percent of each participant's body weight was calculated to determine the weight load utilized for the static (holding time) and dynamic (repetitions) lumbar extension endurance...
Data corruption is one of the key problems that is on top of the radar screen of most CIOs. Continuous Data Protection (CDP) technologies help enterprises deal with data corruption by maintaining multiple versions of data and facilitating recovery by allowing an administrator restore to an earlier clean version of data. The aim of the recovery process after data corruption is to quickly travers...
In this paper we propose and investigate several end-to-end (e2e) protection switching mechanisms with application in Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) networks. In case of local outages, the traffic of affected paths is switched to other e2e paths. In this case, Quality of Service can only be provided if sufficient extra capacity is available on the backup paths. If backup capacity can be s...
In this paper we present the design of a global RWA protocol (GRP) consisting of ‘N’ sector networks, each with a centralized management system (CMS) and sectors acts as a node of a distributed system. As per the connection request it uses centralized or hybrid method (centralized and distributed) to identify the primary and backup lightpaths. In addition an extra backup CMS is maintained to ta...
