We review recent examples where the synergy between radio and X-ray observations has led to substantial progress in understanding astronomical systems. The sub-arcsecond imaging capabilities of the Chandra X-ray observatory provides a 100-fold improvement for comparing X-ray and radio structures. We specifically discuss examples which provide insight into the outflow of material and energy from...

Current and future astronomical surveys are producing catalogs with millions and billions of objects. On-line access to such big datasets for data mining and cross-correlation is usually as highly desired as unfeasible. Providing these capabilities is becoming critical for the Virtual Observatory framework. In this paper we present various performance tests that show how using Relational Databa...

Leading spiral arms are a rare phenomenon. We present here one of the very few convincing candidates of spiral arms opening counter-intuitively in the same direction as the galaxy disk is rotating. This detection in a luminous IR galaxy (LIRG) IRAS 18293-3134 is based on near infrared (NIR) adaptive optics imaging with the Very Large Telescope and long-slit NIR spectroscopy with the AngloAustra...

The collapse of slowly rotating molecular cloud cores threaded by magnetic fields is investigated by high-resolution numerical simulation. Outflow formation in the collapsing cloud cores is also followed. In the models examined, the cloud core and parent cloud rotate rigidly and are initially threaded by a uniform magnetic field. The simulations show that the cloud core collapses along the magn...
