In this paper, we want to show that mental models provide the adequate level for explaining complex anaphoric phenomena, like donkey sentences. The key idea is that anaphora can be more easily resolved by referring to an extensional representation of the meaning of sentences, like the one provided by mental models.

We propose a system for the interpretation of anaphoric relationships between unbound pronouns and quantifiers.
