The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of neurofeedback training on EEG among children with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). In this study, 16 boys with ADHD and 8 boys without ADHD aged 8-12 years were recruited to the study. They were matched and assigned in 3 groups including experimental, patient control and normal control. All participants were assessed...
The clinical significance of QEEG LORETA data analysis performed sequentially within 6 months is presented in a case report of a predominantly central type severe disabling subjective idiopathic tinnitus (SIT) before and following treatment. The QEEG LORETA data is reported as Z-scores of z = ± 2.54, p < 0.013. The focus is on demonstration of patterns of brain wave oscillations reflecting mult...
This pilot study compared the differences in the quantified electroencephalogram (qEEG) between two conditions; eyes closed resting and eyes closed listening to music of 15 subjects currently experiencing an acute psychotic episode. The results showed a significant decrease in delta, alpha and beta waves when listening to music compared to resting condition.
BACKGROUND Standard (qualitative) electroencephalography (EEG) is routinely used in the diagnostic evaluation of psychiatric patients. Quantitative EEG (qEEG) findings differ between patients with schizophrenia, patients with depression, but results are not consistent. The aim of our study was to determine the differences in qEEG parameters between patients with schizophrenia, patients with dep...
While neurofeedback (NF) has been extensively studied in the treatment of many disorders, there have been only three published reports, by D.C. Hammond, on its clinical effects in the treatment of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). In this paper the efficacy of qEEG-guided NF for subjects with OCD was studied as a case series. The goal was to examine the clinical course of the OCD symptoms an...
Variable contributions of state and trait to the electroencephalographic (EEG) signal affect the stability over time of EEG measures, quite apart from other experimental uncertainties. The extent of intraindividual and interindividual variability is an important factor in determining the statistical, and hence possibly clinical significance of observed differences in the EEG. This study investi...
Objectives: To find out which Quantitative EEG (QEEG) parameters could best distinguish patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) with and without Mild Cognitive Impairment from healthy individuals and to find an optimal method for feature selection. Background: Certain QEEG parameters have been seen to be associated with dementia in Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease. Studies have also shown som...
Abstract Study Objectives Obstructive sleep apnea is highly prevalent, but heterogeneous making identifying patients at risk of driving impairment challenging. Resting wake electroencephalography (qEEG) associated with vigilance performance in healthy subjects. We examined if qEEG and clinical measures predict OSA. Methods Fifty-four underwent baseline PSG 28hr extended wakefulness (EW) 2 hourl...
