The hydroboration of aldehydes and ketones using a silica-supported zirconium catalyst is reported. Reaction of Zr(NMe2)4 and mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSN) provides the catalytic material Zr(NMe2)n@MSN. Exhaustive characterization of Zr(NMe2)n@MSN with solid-state (SS)NMR and infrared spectroscopy, as well as through reactivity studies, suggests its surface structure is primarily ≡SiOZr...
An ultrasensitive electrical detection method of nucleic acids has been developed on a nanogapped biosensor. In this study, peptide nucleic acid (PNA) probes were immobilized in the gaps of a pair of finger microelectrodes first and were then hybridized with their complementary target DNA. After that, pectin molecules were introduced into the DNA strand via zirconium-phosphate and zirconium-car...
The refractive index of nanoparticles dispersed in water is measured, using the total internal reflection method. The critical angle is determined by the disappearance of diffraction orders from a metal grating. The investigated nanoparticles are titanium dioxide (anatase phase), (35 nm diameter), zinc oxide, (<50 nm diameter), zirconium dioxide, (<100 nm diameter). The refractive index is meas...
A series of mesoporous silicas impregnated with nanocrystalline sulphated zirconia was prepared by a sol-gel process using an ionic liquid-templated route. The physicochemical properties of the mesoporous sulphated zirconia materials were studied using characterisation techniques such as inductively coupled optical emission spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, ener...
an efficient method for the friedel–crafts acylation of a wide range of aromatic compounds in good to excellent yields under solvent-free conditions, using iron zirconium phosphate (zpfe) was investigated. the catalyst is easy to prepare and shows interesting catalytic properties. the catalyst was characterized by some instrumental techniques such as xrd, icp-oes, sem and tem. a wide variety of...
Nanoparticulate zirconium tungstate prepared through hydrothermal methods was found to autohydrate under ambient conditions. This results in positive thermal expansion, limiting its usefulness for controlled thermal expansion composites. TEM and BET studies provided strong evidence that the cause of autohydration is a result of structural defects present in the nanoparticles, while kinetics are...
Here we report the successful room temperature synthesis of zirconium phosphate nanoparticles (ZPNP) using the P123 tri-co-block polymer for the first time. The samples were characterized by SEM, TEM, XRD, TPD, and BET and were employed for fixation of CO2 on aniline to produce pharmaceutically important acetanilide under mild reaction conditions (150 °C and 150 Psi CO2 pressure).
Surface functionalisation with organic modifiers of multi-layered zirconium phosphate (ZrP) nanoparticles used as polymer fillers can be directly probed by dynamic nuclear polarisation NMR, which provides unambiguous evidence of the presence of P-O-C chemical bonds at the surface of the ZrP layers, thereby confirming successful functionalisation.
Thin nanosheets from a layered zirconium phosphate-carboxyphosphonate is reported here. Small Pd nanoparticles have been supported on these nanosheets by an efficient method. The resulting Pd-catalyst was fully characterized and tested in the Suzuki-Miyaura coupling. The catalytic system proved its efficiency as it was reused for several cycles and showed low Pd leaching.
UNLABELLED The cellular responses of the J774 macrophage cell line to zinc oxide and zirconium oxide nanoparticles have been studied by a comparative quantitative, protein level based proteomic approach. The most prominent results have been validated by targeted approaches. These approaches have been carried out under culture conditions that stimulate mildly the aryl hydrocarbon receptor, there...
