The paper explains and clarifies the differences between Waterfall and Agile development methodologies, establishes what criteria could be taken into account to properly define project success within the scope of software development projects, and finally tries to clarify if project success is the reason why many organizations are moving to Agile methodologies from other ones such as Waterfall....

Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) has a history of research related to software development processes and productivity over the last 40 years. Recently software has penetrated into almost every industry, thus every company is a software company now. Parallel to the history of ALM process models, at first it was considered synonymous to waterfall. However with the questioning of the success...

Since the Agile Manifesto, many organizations have explored agile development methods to replace traditional waterfall development. Interestingly, waterfall remains the most widely used practice, suggesting that there is something missing from the many “flavors” of agile methodologies. We explore seven of the most common practices to explore this, and evaluate each against a series of criteria ...

Two known solutions to tiling agents (in the face of Löbian obstacles) have significant disadvantages. Marcello’s Waterfall can only be realized in nostandard models, while Parametric Polymorphism is constrained to deploy different amounts of “proof strength” at different “successor depths”. These concerns are explained in detail below. We present a third solution to the problem, created by gra...

, where E(x=La) is the erosion rate at the upstream end of the flow acceleration zone above a waterfall, Fr is the Froude number at this setting, and n ranges between 0.5–1.7. This amplification expression suggests that erosion at the lip could be as much as 2–5 times higher relative to erosion at a normal setting with identical hydraulic geometry. Utilizing this erosion amplification expressio...

Author's disclosures of potential conflict of interest are found at the end of this article. C linical trials in oncology continue to offer hope for tumor control. Such hope intensifies as the rapidly advancing knowledge from molecular biology, genetics, and immunology is more readily applied to targeted therapies. The ability to discern genomic or genetic risks and likelihood of response on a ...

We propose an efficient approach for authoring dynamic and realistic waterfall scenes based on acquired video sequence. Traditional video based techniques generate new images by synthesizing 2D samples, i.e., texture sprites chosen from video sequence. However, they are limited to one fixed viewpoint and cannot provide arbitrary walkthrough into 3D scenes. Our approach extends this scheme by sy...

We give a method that appears to be able to find colliding messages for the Waterfall hash function with approximately O(2) work for all hash sizes. If correct, this would show that the Waterfall hash function does not meet the required collision resistance.
