The complex [Cr(3,7diHF)3] ̈ 3H2O (3,7diHF is the monoanion of flavonoid 3,7-dihydroxyflavone) was synthetized and characterized by mass spectrometry, thermogravimetry, UV-Vis and FTIR spectroscopies. The data indicated that the coordination of the chromium(III) ion to the flavonoid increased its thermal stability.

Bowl-shaped corannulene provides various metal binding modes with its curved π-surfaces and rim. Herein, we report the syntheses of 2-pyridylcorannulene and its cyclopalladated complex. Its expanded π-system and columnar self-assembly in the crystal state were revealed by NMR and UV-vis spectroscopies, ESI-TOF mass spectrometry and single-crystal X-ray analysis.

By combining terminal protection of small molecule (folate)-capped DNA probes, exonuclease III signal amplification and gold nanoparticles, we developed a simple and label-free colorimetric assay for highly sensitive detection of folate receptor (FR). The results of determination of trace quantites of selenium in various commercial natural fruit juices by three independent methods: atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS), spectrophotometry (UV-VIS) and spectrofluorometry (SF) were presented. The level of selenium in any of the analysed samples of fruit juices did not exceed the WHO recommended level of 0.010 mg/l for drinking water.
