A major deficiency in state-of-the-art automatic speech recognition (ASR) systems is the lack of robustness in additive and convolutional noise. The model of auditory perception (PEMO), developed by Dau et al. (1996a) for psychoacoustical purposes, partly overcomes these difficulties when used as a front end for automatic speech recognition. To further improve the performance of this auditory-b...

In this section, we briefly present the formalism we use. This formalism aims at describing the state of a system and its dynamic behaviour in an algebraic framework [DG 94]. It was first introduced in a case study on a formal specification of the embedded safety part of an automatic subway pilot [DM 91], [Dau 92], [DGM 93], in order to cope with the large number of variables whose values made ...

G(u,u',u") = 0, (1) where u = u(x, x,..., x), and u', u" denote all the first and second partial derivatives of u. For simplicity we will assume here that both u and G are scalars and denote by ua, uab, the partial derivatives dau and respectively dahu; a,b =1,2, ..., n+1. Let u (x) be a given solution of (1). Our equation is said to be elliptic or hyperbolic at u°(x) according to whether the (...

We consider the problem of designing optimal linear codes (in terms of having the largest minimum distance) subject to a support constraint on the generator matrix. We show that the largest minimum distance can be achieved by a subcode of a Reed-Solomon code of small field size. As a by-product of this result, we settle the GM-MDS conjecture of Dau et. al. in the affirmative.

User requirements look at the functionality of the software product from the perspectives of the various users of that product. They define what the software has to do in order for the users to accomplish their objectives. In order to fulfill a business requirement, there may be multiple user level requirements. For example, the business requirement to allow the customer to pay for the gas at t...

In the era of internet, the proliferation of services will be a great challenge to the users in selecting the best and optimal services that suit the user requirement. So there is a need to filter, prioritize and efficiently deliver relevant information according to the user requirement. Recommendation systems rescue the users by selecting the required content after searching through large volu...

In this research various objective quality measures are evaluated in order to predict the intelligibility for a wide range of non-linearly processed speech signals and speech degraded by additive noise. The obtained results are compared with the prediction results of a more advanced perceptual-based model proposed by Dau et al. and an objective intelligibility measure, namely the coherence spee...

Collecting the stakeholder requirements starts at the early stages of requirement engineering. It is a continuous and is highly critical process. Eliciting requirements from users remains a major challenge for systems developers. This paper focuses on the different elicitation techniques that are widely used in requirement engineering. Keywords— Requirement Elicitation, Introspection, Interview...
