A label-free-based fiber optic biosensor based on etched tilted Bragg grating (TFBG) is proposed and practically demonstrated. Conventional phase mask technic has been utilized to inscribe with a tilt angle of 10°, while the etching accomplished hydrofluoric acid. composite polyethylenimine (PEI)/poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) thermally deposited TFBG, followed by immobilization probe DNA (pDNA) this...

We describe a method of global PCR amplification of cDNA such that the strand sense is maintained. The products of this process are random primed fragments ranging in size from 100 to 500 bp which facilitates uniform PCR amplification of total cDNA. Directional incorporation of a T7 RNA polymerase initiator/promoter sequence allows efficient synthesis of total sense RNA from this material and t...

One challenge in point-of-care (POC) diagnostics is the lack of room-temperature methods for RNA detection based on enzymatic amplification and visualization steps. Here we perform reverse transcription lesion-induced DNA (RT-LIDA), an isothermal method that only requires T4 ligase. RT-LIDA involves RNA-templated ligation primers to form complementary (cDNA) followed by toehold-mediated strand ...

objective(s): hypoxia is a serious challenge for treatment of solid tumors. this condition has been manifested to exert significant therapeutic effects on glioblastoma multiform or (who) astrocytoma grade iv. hypoxia contributes numerous changes in cellular mechanisms such as angiogenesis, metastasis and apoptosis evasion. furthermore, in molecular level, hypoxia can cause induction of dna brea...

micronemes are secretory organelles of the invasive stages of apicomplexan parasites and contain proteins that are important for parasite motility and host cell invasion. even though coccidiosis is a complex disease that can be caused by any combination of mainly seven species, most of the molecular researches concerning characterization of host and parasite genes and proteins have been limited...

A new approach for simultaneously amplifying the 5' and 3' ends of a desired cDNA is described. The method combines the template-switching effect with inverse PCR, which generates the flanking 5' and 3' regions of a certain cDNA with very low or no background. It requires only minimal amounts of total RNA for the synthesis of first-strand cDNA, while the same cDNA can be used to amplify flankin...

pigeonpea (cajanus cajan (l) millsp.) is a drought tolerant legume widely grown in the arid and semi-arid tropics of the world which possesses a deep and extensive root system that succors a number of important physiological and metabolic functions to cope with drought. application of available functional genomics approaches to improve productivity under water deficit requires a better understa...

A new method for amplifying cDNA ends is described which requires only first-strand cDNA synthesis and a single PCR to generate a correct product with very low or no background. The method can be successfully applied to total RNA as well as poly A+ RNA. The same first-strand cDNA can be used to amplify flanking sequences of any cDNA species present in the sample.

We constructed a "cDNA bank" of human colorectal cancer and surrounding normal tissues with our unique mRNA assay system. Total nucleic acids extracted from patients' tissues were applied to 96-well plates, where poly(dT) sequences of oligonucleotides were immobilized. After hybridization, the cDNA was reverse-transcribed on the plate with the captured mRNA as a template, followed by synthesis ...
