The textile printing industry in South India employs a great number of workers that may possibly be exposed to toxic compounds. In the present study, subjects from textile printing units were investigated for the presence of genetic damage in their peripheral blood lymphocytes using micronucleus assay. Proliferation was also investigated using a nuclear division index. It was found that the mic...
Electronic textile (e-textile) allows for high-end wearable electronic devices that provide easy access for carrying, handling and using. However, the related technology does not seem to be mature because the woven fabric hampers not only the device fabrication process directly on the complex surface but also the transfer printing of ultrathin planar electronic devices. Here we report an indire...
Original scientific paper The paper describes the technology and a mechatronic device for the making and validation of textile electrodes. For making the electrodes, the digital printing method with electroconductive inks was used. The mechatronic device is a fragment of the technological line operating with a digital printer. The technological line consists of four modules designed for the pri...
The unique properties of graphene, such as the high elasticity, mechanical strength, thermal conductivity, very high electrical conductivity and transparency, make them it an interesting material for stretchable electronic applications. In the work presented herein, the authors used graphene and carbon nanotubes to introduce chemical sensing properties into textile materials by means of a scree...
Among many of the electrode designs used in electrocardiography (ECG), concentric ring electrodes (CREs) are one of the most promising due to their enhanced spatial resolution. Their development has undergone a great push due to their use in recent years; however, they are not yet widely used in clinical practice. CRE implementation in textiles will lead to a low cost, flexible, comfortable, an...
A new method for fabricating textile integrable capacitive soft strain sensors is reported, based on multicore-shell fiber printing. The fiber sensors consist of four concentric, alternating layers of conductor and dielectric, respectively. These wearable sensors provide accurate and hysteresis-free strain measurements under both static and dynamic conditions.
SOURCE REDUCTION OF CHEMICALS IN TEXTILE PRINTING This is a wide-ranging subject that is now becoming of increasing importance. Allprintersare aware of thegreater pressure being placed on them by both national and local government legislation on the environment. This legislation is aimed at reducing emission from flues and controlling and monitoring the discharge of effluents. In the past the t...
Thousands of workers are employed in textile industries under different job categories including dyeing, printing, finishing, cutting, weaving and spinning. The textile industry workers are exposed to a number of chemicals including dyes, solvents, optical brighteners, finishing agents and numerous types of natural and synthetic fibre dusts which affect their health. In this paper an attempt ha...
