The anti-glioma effect of temozolomide (Tem) is sometimes undermined by the emerging resistance. Recently, resveratrol (Res), herbal medicine extracted from grape seeds, has been demonstrated for its potential use in chemosensitization. In the current study, both these drugs were loaded simultaneously into nanoparticles with methoxy poly(ethylene glycol)-poly epsilon caprolactone (mPEG-PCL) as ...

RATIONALE Immune cells play an important role during the generation and resolution of thrombosis. T cells are powerful regulators of immune and nonimmune cell function, however, their role in sterile inflammation in venous thrombosis has not been systematically examined. OBJECTIVE This study investigated the recruitment, activation, and inflammatory activity of T cells in deep vein thrombosis...

Transendothelial migration is a key step in the extravasation of tumor cells during metastasis formation. Here, we have classified 45 human tumor cell lines derived from various tissues according to their capacity for transendothelial migration in vitro. We could distinguish cell lines showing strong transmigration (TEM+ cell lines) from others that did not transmigrate (TEM- cell lines). By DN...

Leukocyte transendothelial migration (TEM) is a tightly regulated, multistep process that is critical to the inflammatory response. A transient increase in endothelial cytosolic free calcium ion concentration (↑[Ca(2+)]i) is required for TEM. However, the mechanism by which endothelial ↑[Ca(2+)]i regulates TEM and the channels mediating this ↑[Ca(2+)]i are unknown. Buffering ↑[Ca(2+)]i in endot...

Sustained delivery of IL-12 and GM-CSF to tumors induces the activation of tumor-resident CD8(+) T effector/memory cells (Tem) followed by cytotoxic CD8(+) T effector cell expansion. To determine whether the secondary effectors expanded from tumor-associated Tem or were primed de novo, activation kinetics of tumor-draining lymph node (TDLN) CD8(+) T cells were analyzed. Treatment promoted a 4-f...

In the present study, we initially reported that the percentages of CD4 + and CD8 + effector memory T cells (TEM cells) were increased in PB and BM of AA. The elevated TEM cells with the potent effector capacity may relate to the abnormal immune status in the pathogenesis of AA. T-cell mediated suppression of hematopoiesis is considered the pivotal mechanism responsible for bone marrow failure ...

We passaged cells expressing TEM-1 and TEM-12 from a single plasmid through either ampicillin or ceftazidime. We found that the combined effects of recombination and selection removed the bla(TEM-1) allele from the bacterial population when it was passaged through ceftazidime or the bla(TEM-12) allele when cultures were passaged through ampicillin.

A role of endothelial cells in the survival of CLL cells during extravasation is presently unknown. Herein we show that CLL cells but not normal B cells can receive apoptotic signals through physical contact with TNF-α activated endothelium impairing survival in transendothelial migration (TEM) assays. In addition, the CLL cells of patients having lymphadenopathy (LApos) show a survival advanta...

BACKGROUND Persistent expansion of circulating CD4+ effector memory T cells (TEM) in patients with granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) suggests their fundamental role in disease pathogenesis. Recent studies have shown that distinct functional CD4+ TEM cell subsets can be identified based on expression patterns of chemokine receptors. The current study aimed to determine different CD4+ TEM ce...

Leukocyte transendothelial migration (TEM) is regulated by several signaling pathways including Src family kinases (SFK) and the small RhoGTPases. Previous studies have shown that vascular endothelial-cadherin (VE-cad) forms a complex with β-,γ-, and p120-catenins and this complex disassociates to form a transient gap during leukocyte TEM. Additionally, p120-catenin (p120-1A) overexpression in ...
