It is possible to alter the permeability of ethyl cellulose membrane with certain materials such as surfactants. In this study the effect of surfactant concentration and different HLB values on the release rate of atenolol from ethyl cellulose-coated tablets was evaluated. The results showed that when the concentration of surfactant increased, the rate of drug release also increased. The kineti...

Force/distance curves for silicon nitride tip/flat silica or alumina coated by a layer of mixed micelles of cationic/anionic surfactant are measured by using AFM. Mixtures of SDS/C(n)TAB (with molecular ratios of 3:1 and 20:1) and C(n)TAB/SDS (with molecular ratio of 85:15) were used for alumina and silica substrates, respectively. The number of carbon atoms per C(n)TAB molecule, n, was in the ...

The solution and interfacial behavior of surfactant mixtures was investigated using a cationic surfactant, tetradecyl trimethyl ammonium chloride (TTAC), and a nonionic surfactant, pentadecylethoxylated nonyl phenol (NP-15), with alumina as the substrate. The cationic TTAC adsorbed at the alumina-water interface as a result of electrostatic attraction at pH approximately 10 whereas the nonionic...

Behavior of surfactant mixtures at solid-liquid interfaces was investigated using anionic-nonionic and catjonic-nonionic surfactants of different structures. The results show that adsorption of nonionic surfactants on alumina was enhanced significantly by the coadsorption of ionic surfactants. The adsorption beha vior of these binary surfactant mixtures was dependent upon the ratio of the two s...

CA91 108 We report on resistivity and chemical stability of Cr/Au bilayers deposited by sputtering on three kinds of substrates: alumina, aluminum nitride and aluminum nitride coated alumina. The insertion loss of Cr/Au microstrip lines fabricated on these three substrates was low and stable after 700 cycles in the -65°C to 125°C temperature range.

The assembly of silicate and surfactant confined within cylindrical alumina pore channels results in circular hexagonal, concentric lamellar and other unique mesostructures.

In this paper, the effect of the material and distance of the substrate on the characteristics of gamma alumina nanopowder coated by plasma spray method are investigated. For this purpose alumina nanopowder were coated on the two types of stainless steel and Pyrex glass substrates using a plasma torch. Morphological characteristics of the prepared nanolayer are studied by investigating the scan...

A new rapid, very simple and one-step sol-gel strategy for the large-scale preparation of highly porous γ-Al₂O₃ is presented. The resulting mesoporous alumina materials feature high surface areas (400 m² g-1), large pore volumes (0.8 mL g-1) and the γ-Al₂O₃ phase is obtained at low temperature (500 °C). The main advantages and drawbacks of different preparations of mesoporous alumina materials ...

This paper presents the wear characteristics of the composite ceramic coating made with Al2O3-40wt%8YSZ on the biomedical grade Ti-6Al-4V alloy (grade 5) used for total joint prosthetic components, with the aim of improving their tribological behavior. The coatings were deposited using a plasma spraying technique, and optimization of plasma parameters was performed using response surface method...
