Daptomycin is a lipopeptide antibiotic with potent activity against gram-positive bacteria. Complete-genome comparisons of laboratory-derived Staphylococcus aureus with decreased susceptibility to daptomycin and their susceptible parent were used to identify genes that contribute to reduced susceptibility to daptomycin. Selective pressure of growth in sublethal concentrations of daptomycin resu...

The aim of this study was to ascertain the incidence of "increased endometrial vascularity" recorded in the ultrasound scan reports, in the context of RPOC and correlate this finding with the incidence of life threatening intra-operative bleeding. Ultrasound scan reports sometimes mention the presence of increased endometrial / sub-endometrial vascularity in the context of retained products of ...

The Leptospira biflexa rpsL and rpsG genes were sequenced. Although similar in many respects, proteins encoded by these L. biflexa genes had several unusual features when compared with homologous proteins of other organisms. Unlike the rpsL genes of other eubacteria, the L. biflexa rpsL gene is adjacent to a rpoC-like gene.

An 84 bp in-frame duplication (K370_A396dup) within the rpoC subunit of RNA polymerase was found in two independent mutants selected during an adaptive laboratory evolution experiment under osmotic stress in Escherichia coli, suggesting that this mutation confers improved osmotic tolerance. To determine the role this mutation in rpoC plays in osmotic tolerance, we reconstructed the mutation in ...

Escherichia coli microcin J25 (MccJ25) is a plasmid-encoded, cyclic peptide antibiotic consisting of 21 unmodified amino acid residues. It is primarily active on gram-negative bacteria related to the producer strain, inducing cell filamentation in an SOS-independent way. A mutation causing resistance to MccJ25 was isolated. Genetic analysis indicated that it resided in the rpoC gene, encoding t...

We localized five rpoC (beta') mutations affecting Escherichia coli RNA polymerase assembly. The Ts4, XH56, and R120 mutations changed beta' residues conserved throughout eubacteria; the JE10092 mutation occurred in the hypervariable region; rpoC1 (TsX) changed a universally conserved residue and corresponds to yeast rpb1-1. Thus, distinct, predominantly conserved beta' residues participate in ...

Abstract The growing interest in blockchain technology has gained a lot of attention Supply Chain Management (SCM) and sparked the quest for decentralized, scalable, efficient trustworthy consensus schemes. Traditional blockchains rely on computationally expensive mechanisms with low throughput high latency. This paper conducts performance evaluation several existing protocols to illustrate blo...

Abstract Study question What are the assisted reproductive technology-associated risk factors for retained products of conception (RPOC) following delivery? Summary answer Frozen embryo transfer (FET) with hormone replacement cycles (HRC) constitutes largest factor RPOC. is known already RPOC a key cause secondary postpartum hemorrhage. Previous studies have shown that use ART increases and sub...

The term retained products of conception (RPOC) refers to intrauterine tissue that develops after conception and persists after medical and surgical pregnancy termination, miscarriage, and vaginal or cesarean delivery. One of the most important factor risk for RPOC is placenta accreta, defined as "the abnormal adherence, either in whole or in part, of the afterbirth to the underlying uterine wa...

DNA barcoding coupled high resolution melting (Bar-HRM) is an emerging method for species discrimination based on DNA dissociation kinetics. The aim of this work was to evaluate the suitability of different primer sets, derived from selected DNA regions, for Bar-HRM analysis of species in Croton (Euphorbiaceae), one of the largest genera of plants with over 1,200 species. Seven primer pairs wer...
