The endemic Australian genus Actenomeros Winterton & Irwin, 1999b is reviewed. Three species are transferred from Nanexila Winterton & Irwin, 1999a: Actenomeros aureilineata (Winterton & Irwin, 1999a) comb. n., Actenomeros intermedia (Winterton & Irwin, 1999a) comb. n. and Actenomeros paradoxa (Winterton & Irwin, 1999a) comb. n. A new species (Actenomeros budawangsp. n.) is described and figure...

In this study, adults with Parkinson's disease (PD) used virtual cueing spectacles (VCS) mimicking kinesia paradoxa in home and community settings to assess the impact on mobility and participation. We used an ABA single-subject design with repeated measures. Six adults with PD, akinesia, and stage III or IV Hoehn and Yahr rating scale status used VCS in their homes and communities for a week o...

Few animal species have aroused as much excitement upon their discovery as the South American lungfish. Its possession of distinct piscine as well as amphibian characters made the animal a link in the transition of vertebrate life from water breathing to air breathing. Its special attributes are clearly reflected in its name, Lepidosiren paradoxa. Physiological experimentation on respiratory fu...

Morphology of structural components of nuclear polyhedrosis virus (NPV) particles of the silkworm (Bombyx mori Linné) was studied by electron microscope using negative staining. NPV particles isolated from polyhedra could be separated into five structural components by centrifugation in sucrose density gradients. The lowest band (band I) was found to consist of thick rod-shaped particles (330 b...

Morphological mutants were isolated from a wild strain of Agrobacterium tumefaciens at a high frequency by treatment with a nitrosoguanidine. Seventeen of the 20 mutants isolated were temperature-sensitive. At 27 C, the mutant cells were rod-shaped and at 37 C, spherical or branched, whereas the wild-type cells were rod-shaped at both temperatures.

The quality of Shea butter is highly affected by processing factors. Hence, the aim of this work was to evaluate the effects of conditioning duration (CD), moisture content (MC), and die temperature (DT) of screw expeller on Shea butter quality. A combination of 33 full factorial design and response surface methodology was used for this investigation. Response variables were refractive index, a...

Klebsiella pneumoniae MirM7 is a wild-type strain which grows as cocci at pH 7 and above and as rods at pH 6.5 and below. Cultures of this strain and an auxotrophic derivative, MirM7b, have been found to undergo spontaneous lysis after purification from possible contaminating viruses. Lysates always contained two phages, FR2 and AP3, most often at high titers. FR2 and AP3 plated with the same e...
