Denatured DNA preparations from Escherichia coli were centrifuged to equilibrium in cesium chloride solutions. Hybridizing experiments with radioactively labeled ribosomal RNA showed that the DNA strands complementary to ribosomal RNA were distributed on the heavy side of the DNA band.
