Abstract Background and Objectives Antibody against RhD antigen is important in blood transfusion and clinical medicine. Therefore, in this study, the effective factors in the optimization of in vitro immunization to achieve immunized lymphocytes that produce antibodies were evaluated to obtain antibodies against RhD antigen in the culture medium. Materials and Methods In an experimental study...
he RHD gene is responsible for the expression of the D antigen hile RHCE encodes proteins carrying antigens C or c, and E r e. RHD is present or absent depending on the RH haplotype, nd RHCE displays four common alleles (ce, Ce, cE, CE) responible for the expression of the two antithetical (allelic) series f antigens. RHD gene deletion is the leading cause of the Dhenotype worldwide.1 Functiona...
The Rhesus (Rh) blood group is the most polymorphic human blood group and it is clinically significant in transfusion medicine. Especially, D antigen is the most important and highly immunogenic antigen. Due to anti-D, it is the cause of the hemolytic disease of the newborn and transfusion reaction. About 0.1%-0.5% of Asian people are RhD-negative, whereas in the Thai population, the RhD-negati...
The RhD protein which is the RHD gene product and a major component of the Rh blood group system carries the strongest blood group immunogen, the D-antigen. This antigen is absent in a significant minority of the human population (RhD-negatives) due to RHD deletion or alternation. The origin and persistence of this RhD polymorphism is an old evolutionary enigma. Before the advent of modern medi...
Background: RhD antigen system is the leading cause of hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn (HDFN). Paternal molecular RhD zygosity test is valuable to decide on the use of anti-D immunoglobulin prophylaxis in Rh D-negative pregnant women. We aimed to investigate the paternal RhD zygosity by two molecular methods among blood donors in Kurdistan province, the west of Iran. We also compared...
Objective Maternal-fetal RhD antigen incompatibility causes approximately 50% of clinically significant alloimmunization cases. The routine use of prophylactic anti-D immunoglobulin has dramatically reduced hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn. Recently, fetal RHD genotyping in RhD negative pregnant women has been suggested for appropriate use of anti-D immunoglobulin antenatal prophylaxi...
Rabbit hemorrhagic disease (RHD) is contagious and highly lethal. Commercial vaccines against RHD are produced from the livers of experimentally infected rabbits. Although several groups have reported that recombinant subunit vaccines against rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus (RHDV) are promising, application of the vaccines has been restricted due to high production costs or low yield. In the p...
BACKGROUND The D antigen is highly immunogenic, requiring only a small quantity of transfused red blood cells (RBCs) to cause alloimmunization in D- immunocompetent recipients. DEL was reported arousing alloimmunization to true Rh- patients. Molecular studies of the RHD gene have revealed that DEL individuals retain a grossly intact RHD gene or have a portion of RHD in their genomes. Avoiding i...
Four strains of RHDV assigned as haemagglutinating (Vt97 and Hartmannsdorf) and non-haemagglutinating (Pv97 and 9905) antigenic variants were examined for dynamic changes in the values of white and red blood cells indexes. The study showed differences among strains examined that were not depending on haemagglutination property.
