in this paper, the coupled dispersive (2+1)-dimensional long wave equation is studied. the traveling wave hypothesis yields complexiton solutions. subsequently, the wave equation is studied with power law nonlinearity where the ansatz method is applied to yield solitary wave solutions. the constraint conditions for the existence of solitons naturally fall out of the derivation of the soliton so...
We present a numerical study of a derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation with a general power nonlinearity, |ψ| ψx. In the L-supercritical regime, σ > 1, our simulations indicate that there is a finite time singularity. We obtain a precise description of the local structure of the solution in terms of blowup rate and asymptotic profile, in a form similar to that of the nonlinear Schrödinger ...
Many phenomenological models of the responses of simple cells in primary visual cortex have concluded that a cell's firing rate should be given by its input raised to a power greater than one. This is known as an expansive power-law nonlinearity. However, intracellular recordings have shown that a different nonlinearity, a linear-threshold function, appears to give a good prediction of firing r...
The main idea of this paper is to study the chaotic behavior Zakharov–Kuznetsov equation with perturbation. By taking traveling wave transformation, we transform perturbed dual-power law and triple-power nonlinearity into planar dynamic systems, then analyze how external terms affect behavior. We emphasize here that there no phenomenon for non-perturbed ZK equation, thus it only caused by terms.
Sinusoidally driven oscillator equations with a power-law nonlinearity are investigated computationally to determine the driving frequency which produces the “most chaos”, i.e., the maximized largest Lyapunov exponent. It is argued that the “simplest” such driven chaotic oscillator has a cubic nonlinearity x3. 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved. PACS: 05.45.-a; 02.30.Hq
Introduction In this study, we use a newly proposed method based on the software structure of the maple, called the Khaters method, and will be introducing exponential, hyperbolic, and trigonometric solutions for one of the Schrödinger equations, called the nonlinear Schrödinger equation with the dual power law nonlinearity. Given the widespread use of the Schrödinger equation in physics and e...
This paper presents a new feature extraction algorithm called PNCC that is based on auditory. Major new features of PNCC processing include the use of a power-law nonlinearity that replaces the traditional log nonlinearity used in MFCC coefficients, and a novel algorithm to suppress background excitation using medium-duration power estimation based on the ratio of the arithmetic mean to the geo...
A computer simulation of nonlinear correlators with (-k)th-law nonlinearity has been implemented. The nonlinearity is applied to the input-image power spectrum, with either a matched filter or a phase-only filter representing the reference object. Optimal correlators (with an exactly known power spectrum of the background-image component) and suboptimal correlators have been studied in order to...
