Abstract: Polarization converters play an important role in antennas and radar. Electromagnetic band gap materials enable manufacture of polarization converters which are : low cost, low profile, light weight and have large bandwidth. In this paper mushroom-like electromagnetic band gap materials are considered for polarization converters. The theory is reviewed. A simple design procedure is de...

In this paper we compare the characteristics of pulsars with a high spin-down energy loss rate (Ė) against those with a low Ė. We show that the differences in the total intensity pulse morphology between the two classes are in general rather subtle. A much more significant difference is the fractional polarization which is very high for high Ė pulsars and low for low Ė pulsars. The Ė at the tra...

I study a problem, whether the asymmetry of a 56 Ni ejecta that results in the asymmetry of the Hα emission line at the nebular epoch of the type IIP su-pernova SN 2004dj is able also to account for the recently detected polarization of the supernova radiation. I developed a model of the Hα profile and luminos-ity with a nonthermal ionization and excitation taken into account adopting an asymme...

We present polarization profiles at 1.4 and 3.1 GHz for 14 young pulsars with characteristic ages less than 75 kyr. Careful calibration ensures that the absolute position angle of the linearly polarized radiation at the pulsar is obtained. In combination with previously published data we draw three main conclusions about the pulse profiles of young pulsars. (1) Pulse profiles are simple and con...

We present a systematic study of the circular polarization in pulsar integrated profiles, based on published polarization data. For core components, we find no significant correlation between the sense-change of circular polarization and the sense of linear position angle variation. Circular polarization is not restricted to core components and, in some cases, reversals of circular polarization...

We demonstrate that polarization modulation of an illumination beam can effectively control the spatial profile of the light transmitted through turbid media. Since the transmitted electric fields are completely mingled in turbid media, polarization states of an illumination beam can be used effectively to control the propagation of light through turbid media. Numerical simulations were perform...

Based on the Ginzburg-Landau approach, we generalize the Kittel theory and derive the interpolation formula for the temperature evolution of a multidomain polarization profile P(x,z). We resolve the long-standing problem of the near-surface polarization behavior in ferroelectric domains and demonstrate polarization vanishing instead of the usually assumed fractal domain branching. We propose an...

We demonstrate reconfigurable orbital angular momentum (OAM) and polarization manipulation of OAM- and polarization-multiplexed 100 Gbit/s quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK) data channels. Each data channel's OAM value and its polarization state can be arbitrarily changed by taking advantage of the unique wavefront profile of OAM beams using liquid crystal on silicon-based spatial light modul...

Polarization-angle density displays are given for pulsars B0809+74 and B2303+30, which exhibit no evidence of the systematic polarization-angle rotation within individual subpulses previously reported for these two stars. The “drifting” subpulses of both pulsars exhibit strikingly linear and circular polarization which appears to reflect the characteristics of two nearly orthogonally polarized ...

We consider the propagation of polarized light in a medium with Maxwell fish eye refraction index profile. show that polarization violates additional symmetries so ray trajectories no longer remain closed. Then we suggest modified, polarization-dependent which restores all initial profile and yields closed light. Explicit expressions for integrals motion solutions corresponding are presented.
