The photocatalytic reduction of Cr(VI) is investigated over iron(III)-based metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) structured as MIL-88B. It is found that MIL-88B (Fe) MOFs, containing Fe3-μ3-oxo clusters, can be used as photocatalyst for the reduction of Cr(VI) under visible light irradiation, which is due to the direct excitation of Fe3-μ3-oxo clusters. The amine-functionalized MIL-88B (Fe) MOFs (de...

photocatalytic membranes exhibit great potential for water treatment since they combine the filtration and photo degradation in a single unit. although blending photocatalytic nanoparticles into polymeric thin film remains the simplest method to prepare the photocatalytic membrane, the entrapped photocatalyst showed less catalytic activity due to the agglomeration and shielding effects in the p...

Black brookite TiO2 single-crystalline nanosheets with outstanding photocatalytic activity toward CO2 reduction is prepared by a facile oxidation-based hydrothermal reaction method combined with post-annealing treatment. Large amount of Ti(3+) defects are introduced into the bulk of brookite nanoparticles, which increases the solar energy absorption and enhances the photocatalytic activity.

To elucidate the roles of graphene in photoelectric events and mass transfer during photocatalytic process is important for engineering graphene-semiconductor hybrid photocatalyst. Here, we demonstrated reduced graphene oxide (RGO) capturing dyes and photoinduced electrons during photocatalytic degradation of organic dyes in water. It captures dyes from water through adsorption and desorption i...

A hybrid for the visible-light-driven photocatalytic reduction of CO2 using methanol as a reducing agent was developed by combining two different types of photocatalysts: a Ru(II) dinuclear complex (RuBLRu') used for CO2 reduction is adsorbed onto Ag-loaded TaON (Ag/TaON) for methanol oxidation. Isotope experiments clearly showed that this hybrid photocatalyst mainly produced HCOOH (TN = 41 for...

In this work, oxygen vacancies were introduced onto the surface of BiFeO₃ nanoparticles by NaBH₄ reduction method to yield oxygen-deficient BiFeO3-x samples. Comprehensive analysis on the basis of high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) observation and X-ray photoelectron spectrum (XPS) confirms the existence of surface oxygen vacancies on the BiFeO3-x nanoparticles. The photoc...

SnS(2) nanocrystals with adjustable sizes were synthesized via a hydrothermal method from the aqueous solution of common and inexpensive SnCl(4)·5H(2)O, thioacetamide and citric acid, simply by varying the reaction temperature and reaction time. The structures, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) specific surface areas and optical properties of the resultant SnS(2) nanocrystals were characterized by X...

New Ru(II)-Re(I) supramolecular photocatalysts with a rhenium(I) biscarbonyl complex as a catalyst unit were synthesized. They photocatalyzed CO2 reduction to CO using a wide-range of visible light, and their photocatalytic abilities were strongly affected by the phosphorus ligands on the Re site. Especially, Ru-Re(FPh), with two P(p-FPh)3 ligands, exhibited tremendous photocatalytic properties...

Quantum dot (QD) sensitization can increase the light absorption and electronic transmission of photocatalysts. However, limited studies have been conducted on the photocatalytic activity of photocatalysts after modification by noble metal QDs. In this study, we developed a simple method for fabricating Pd-QD-modified g-C3N4. Results showed that the modification of Pd-QDs can improve the NO pho...

Photocatalytic conversion of carbon dioxide (CO(2)) to hydrocarbons such as methanol makes possible simultaneous solar energy harvesting and CO(2) reduction, two birds with one stone for the energy and environmental issues. This work describes a high photocatalytic conversion of CO(2) to methanol using graphene oxides (GOs) as a promising photocatalyst. The modified Hummer's method has been app...
