The condition known as delta phalanx (or longitudinally bracketed epiphysis) is a rare congenital anomaly first described in 1964. The deformity consists of a triangular bone with an epiphysis running along the shortened side of the phalanx in a proximal to distal direction, making longitudinal growth of the digit impossible. Isolated hallux varus congenitus due to a delta phalanx of the proxim...

Disruption of the finger’s extensor apparatus at its terminal portion, causing inability to extend distal interphalangeal joint (abbreviation: DIP) and dropping of the distal phalanx, results with well known „mallet finger” deformity. This deformity can be caused by simple rupture of extensor apparatus, or avulsion fracture of the dorsal rim of the articular surface of distal phalanx. Sudden, f...

Introduction The DIP Argo hemiprosthesis (ADIP) was designed in 2012 with the idea of replacing the destroyed / arthritic head of the middle phalanx (P2) and was implanted in 2013 for the first time.Basically the idea was to achieve coverage of P2 as opposed to P3 (distal phalanx), because the last phalanx of the digit is so thin, and the joint surface often so destroyed that the fixation of th...

Asymptomatic symmetrical hyperphalangism of the fingers accompanied by foot anomalies is very rare. We present a 21-year-old man with anomalies in both hands and feet. He had short little, index, and middle fingers, long ring fingers, and clinodactyly of the little finger. He also had symmetrical brachydactyly of both feet. There were no other skeletal anomalies and his family members were norm...

Epidermoid cysts of the finger phalanx are rare pseudotumours. They are benign lesions with a satisfactory outcome after excision. We describe a case of an epidermoid cyst in the distal phalanx of the ring finger. It was treated successfully and the patient had excellent functional results and radiological healing at one-year follow-up.

DESCRIPTION A 61 year-old man was referred for management of a distal dorsal squamous cell carcinoma of the thumb with involved distal phalangeal periosteum. The dorsal cortex of the distal phalanx and all nail-producing and hyponychial tissues were excised and sent for pathology. No tumor was found; thus, the remaining volar distal phalanx was conserved.

Mallet hallux injury typically occurs due to trauma from forced hyperflexion. The is commonly an avulsion fracture of the extensor hallucis longus tendon at distal end great toe, but can also rupture around its insertion into first phalanx. It rare for both types occur simultaneously. A mallet toe occurring in rarely reported, and there no established standard treatment method. Here, we present...
