OBJECTIVES This study was conducted to describe the regional malaria incidence in relation to the geographic and climatic conditions and describe the effect of altitude on the expansion of malaria over the last decade in Papua New Guinea. METHODS Malaria incidence was estimated in five provinces from 1996 to 2008 using national health surveillance data. Time trend of malaria incidence was com...
Analysis of an RNA-Seq library from cucumber leaf RNA revealed the first complete genome sequence of Cucurbit aphid-borne yellows virus (CABYV) from Papua New Guinea. We compared it with 36 complete CABYV genomes from other world regions. It most resembled the genome of South Korean isolate GS6.
In this paper, we describe the multidisciplinary approach that we are setting up to study leptospirosis and its complex eco-epidemiology in New Caledonia. Based on an assessment of the major research needs for this neglected disease both at the global (world) and local (New Caledonia) levels, we structured our research program with three workpackages that are presented and discussed.
Standard ML has a module system that allows one to deene para-metric modules, called functors. Functors are \\rst-order," meaning that func-tors themselves cannot be passed as parameters or returned as results of functor applications. This paper presents a semantics for a higher-order module system which generalizes the module system of Standard ML. The higher-order functors described here are ...

Negastrius exiguus (Randall) is removed from the faunal list and Agriotes pubescens Melsheimer is re-instated as a member of the New Brunswick fauna. Agriotes pubescens Melsheimer, Dalopius brevicornis W. J. Brown, Danosoma obtectum (Say) and Megapenthes solitarius Fall are newly reported for the Maritime provinces. ...
Modeling the probability of arsenic in groundwater in New England as a tool for exposure assessment.
We developed a process-based model to predict the probability of arsenic exceeding 5 microg/L in drinking water wells in New England bedrock aquifers. The model is being used for exposure assessment in an epidemiologic study of bladder cancer. One important study hypothesis that may explain increased bladder cancer risk is elevated concentrations of inorganic arsenic in drinking water. In easte...
