A new modified mesoporous silica nanosensor was synthesized by the co-condensation method. Under basic conditions, the obtained mesoporous silica nanosensor responds selectively to Fe(2+) (pH = 8) and Cu(2+) (pH = 12) with a distinguishable colour change perceivable by the naked eye and a detection limit of approximately 50 ppb.
A new nanosensor composed of laminated samarium borate and immobilized laccase was developed for phenol determination. The laminated samarium borate was synthesized by a mild solid-state-hydrothermal (S-S-H) method without any surfactant or Template. X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to characterize the samp...
Glycoproteins are closely associated with the occurrence of diverse diseases, and they have been used as biomarkers and therapeutic targets in clinical diagnostics. Currently, mass spectrometry has proven to be a powerful tool for glycoprotein analysis, but it is almost impossible to directly identify glycoproteins without the preparation and pretreatment of samples. Furthermore, biological sam...
By using triangular silver (Ag) nanoparticle array, a localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) nanosensor was fabricated and shown to sense serum p53 protein in vitro, which is involved in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). The nanosensor consists of a triangular Ag nanoparticles array with single particle dimension of 120 nm in-plane width and 45 nm out-of-plane height. When exam...
Cellular lensing and near infrared fluorescent nanosensor arrays to enable chemical efflux cytometry
Abstract Nanosensors have proven to be powerful tools monitor single cells, achieving spatiotemporal precision even at molecular level. However, there has not been way of extending this approach statistically relevant numbers living cells. Herein, we design and fabricate nanosensor array in microfluidics that addresses limitation, creating a Nanosensor Chemical Cytometry (NCC). nIR fluorescent ...
Molybdenum (Mo) is an essential trace element for almost all living organisms including animals. Mo is used as a catalytic center of molybdo-enzymes for oxidation/reduction reactions of carbon, nitrogen, and sulfur metabolism. Whilst living cells are known to import inorganic molybdate oxyanion from the surrounding environment, the in vivo dynamics of cytosolic molybdate remain poorly understoo...
BACKGROUND Fluorescent glucose-sensitive nanosensors have previously been used in vivo to track glucose concentration changes in interstitial fluid. However, this technology was limited because of loss of fluorescence intensity due to particle diffusion from the injection site. In this study, we encapsulated the nanosensors into injectable gels to mitigate nanosensor migration in vivo. ...
High concentrations of oxidized low density lipoprotein (oxLDL) induce aberrant apoptosis of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) in atherosclerotic plaques. This apoptosis cannot be blocked completely by the inhibition of caspase, and it eventually potentiates plaque disruption and risk for cardiovascular disease. Given the important role of apoptosis inducing factor (AIF) in caspase-independe...
Fusogenic Nanosensor In article number 2214603, Seungjoo Haam, Daesub Song, and co-workers present a fusogenic nanosensor capable of rapidly detecting intact influenza A virus (IAV) by mimicking the cell surface with sialic acid modulating membrane stiffness. By incorporating Förster resonance energy transfer pairs, can directly detect various IAV subtypes, including avian fecal samples, within...
