Porous hollow glass microspheres have many uses, including encapsulation of active materials. In this paper a fast and facile method for fabricating porous hollow glass-microspheres was demonstrated by etching them using dilute hydrofluoric acid. Then, a highly reactive amine was infiltrated into the etched glass microspheres. Scanning electron microscopy was conducted for the hollow glass micr...

new forms of vanadium oxide nanoporous were fabricated using a simple chemical synthesis method. vanadium pentoxide (v2o5) nanoporous were synthesized by sodium metavanadate as precursor and ethylene glycol as surfactant. the samples were characterized by high resolution transmission electron microscopy (hrtem), field effect scanning electron microscopy (fesem) and x-ray diffraction (xrd), four...

In this research work, silica nano-porous thin films were deposited on glass substrates by layer by layer method. The thin films were calcinated at various calcination temperatures (200, 300, 400, and 500 °C). The morphology, surface characteristics, surface roughness and hydrophilic properties of the thin films were investigated by field emission scanning electron microscopy, attenuated total ...

natural convective heat transfer of nano-fluid in porous media is present in many advanced engineering applications. in this work, this problem has been computationally simulated, using lbm. the configuration used includes a cold exterior region and hot interior cylinders with one-, two-, or three-cylinder arrangements. however, the effective area for heat transfer has been kept the same for al...

This paper presents results of porous Sic characterization using photoluminescence, Raman scattering and Atomic Force Microscopy. A comparative optical spectroscopy study on bulk Sic and porous Sic layers has shown a number of new features specific to nano-crystallite materials. The role of these effects on optical spectroscopy data in porous Sic accessed by photoluminescence and Raman scatteri...

In recent years, spinel-type compounds have attracted great interest because of their gem-like qualities. However, little is known of their gas sensing properties. We report, in this paper, on a self-assembly method to prepare porous ZnCo2O4 (ZCO) nano/microspheres by a facile one-step solvothermal process and subsequent annealing. Abundant techniques were used to characterize the morphology an...

Meso-porous metal materials have enhanced surface energies offering unique surface properties with potential applications in chemical catalysis, molecular sensing and selective separation. In this paper, commercial 20 nm diameter metal nano-particles, including silver and copper were blended with 7 nm silica nano-particles by shear mixing. The resulted powders were cold-sintered to form dense, ...

: [email protected] .ac.cn (W. Han). Abstract The unique micro-sized (2–10 mm) Si/C composites consisting of 20 nm carbon coated secondary Si were synthesized from the abundant and low cost Al–Si alloy ingot by acid etching, ball-milling and carbonization procedure. The nano-porous Si/C composites provide a capacity of 1182 mAh g 1 at a current density of 50 mAg , 952 mAh g 1 at 200 mAg , 815 mAh g...

Advances in nanotechnology have provided acoustic researchers with a number of new materials with nano-fibres and nano-pores that can potentially be implemented as an acoustic porous absorber. This paper investigates the acoustic absorption behaviour of carbon nanotube (CNT) arrays, in order to quantify the acoustic characteristics and absorption performance of nanoscopic fibres in comparison w...

Nano-layered sorbents for CO(2) capture, for the first time, were developed using layer-by-layer nanoassembly. A CO(2)-adsorbing polymer and a strong polyelectrolyte were alternately immobilized within porous particles. The developed sorbents had fast CO(2) adsorption and desorption properties and their CO(2) capture capacity increased with increasing nano-layers of the CO(2)-adsorbing polymer.
