Different kinds of metal-DNA nanohybrids are synthesized from cheap natural DNA on a large scale. These air-stable M-DNA nanohybrids maintain the advantages of both DNA and the metal nanoparticles, which exhibit reversible solubility and high catalytic activities. Moreover, the M-DNA nanohybrids could be easily reused for several cycles.
In this paper we study the spectral, localization and dispersion properties of dipolar modes in quasi-periodically modulated nanoparticle chains based on the Fibonacci sequence. By developing a transfer matrix approach for the calculation of resonant frequencies, oscillation eigenvectors and integrated density of states (IDS) of spatially-modulated dipole chains, we demonstrate the presence of ...
We study modulational instability in nonlinear arrays of subwavelength metallic nanoparticles and analyze numerically nonlinear scenarios of the instability development. We demonstrate that modulational instability can lead to the formation of regular periodic or quasiperiodic modulations of the polarization. We reveal that such nonlinear nanoparticle arrays can support long-lived standing and ...
Efficient transmission of light through a metal layer has become a key issue for a variety of applications including light-emitting diodes and solar cells. We report here on a novel strategy where localized and extended surface plasmons are combined to maximize the fluorescence transmission through a metallic film. We show that the dispersion of an artificial material formed by an array of meta...
Fungi consists of varied group of heterotrophs, which due to their unique properties show applications in different fields. Nanotechnology covers diverse fields of science and technology, and the fabrication of nanoparticles using the biological route is the need of the day. The introduction of biological agents for the synthesis of nanoparticles has encouraged the researchers to search for the...
Catalytic microspheres: A general approach is demonstrated for the facile preparation of mesoporous metal oxide microspheres loaded with noble metal nanoparticles (see TEM image in the picture). Among 18 oxide/noble metal catalysts, TiO(2)/0.1 mol % Pd microspheres showed the highest turnover frequency in NaBH(4) reduction of 4-nitrophenol (see picture).
P(4) reaction with metal NPs (In, Pb, Zn) provides an easy access to the corresponding metal phosphide NPs in a soft and stoichiometric reaction. Size-influence on the reactivity is investigated in the case of indium.
Metal nanoparticles have received considerable attention due to their unusual properties and promising applications in electronics, photonics and biochemical sensing and imaging. This review presents an introduction to the synthesis of metal nanoparticles, especially the gold nanoparticles in shape of rod. The growth mechanism of gold nanorods and optical properties of metallic nanoparticles is...
due to unique applications of palladium nanoparticles, synthesis of these nanoparticles by a simple andlow cost method is very important. in this work, pd nanoparticles were synthesized with narrow sizedistribution by loading metal salt (pd(oac)2 ) into the polymeric matrix (peg) as reducing agent andstabilizer. also, the effect of metal salt concentration and peg molecular weight on the conver...
