Mesenteric cysts are rare intra-abdominal lesions with variable clinical symptoms and signs that make pre-operative diagnosis difficult. Optimal treatment is surgical excision of the cyst with laparotomy or laparoscopy. We present a case of mesenteric cyst that was misdiagnosed as para-ovarian cyst and managed laparoscopically by gynaecologists.

Malignant fibrous histiocytoma is the second most common soft-tissue sarcoma in adults. After the extremities, the retroperitoneal space is the second most common site of this tumor. A 50-year-old man presented with a right retroperitoneal, thick-walled, cystic multilocular mass measuring 10 × 10 cm that was thought to be a type CE 5 hydatid cyst preoperatively. However, the postoperative histo...

A mesenteric cyst is rare intra-abdominal pathology, with little literature to guide us on how to diagnose and manage it. We report the incident of a 57-year-old female who had an incidental finding of a sigmoid mesenteric cyst whilst undergoing an operation under the care of the Gynaecologists. A computed tomography scan and a flexible sigmoidoscopy followed to help diagnose the lesion as a cy...

Our purpose is to show the Multi-Detector CT (MDCT) findings of an intra-abdominal giant cystic lesion with midgut volvulus and to share our experience with giant lymphangiectasis mimicking a mesenteric cyst or a cystic mass. The pathological evaluation indicated that the cyst contained abdominal lymphatic material. Malrotation is usually detected in infants and children, but rarely in adults. ...

Mesenteric cysts are rare, benign gastrointestinal cystic lesions, which are often non-troublesome and present as an incidental radiological finding. However, surgery is often performed in the acute setting to remove lesions that are symptomatic. This report highlights the case of a large, symptomatic mesenteric cyst managed successfully with initial conservative measures followed by planned el...

and smooth, measuring 12.9 x 11.6 x 9.9 cm, located on the left flank, in the mesenteric region, displacing adjacent structures, suggestive of mesenteric cyst (Figure 1A). Laparotomy revealed a cystic mass, with approximately 10 cm in diameter, thin-walled, smooth, yellowish, with tortuous vessels on the surface, without adherence to adjacent structures, located in mesojejuno about 50 cm from t...
