Some recent results of molecular dynamics simulations of the condensation/evaporation and velocity distribution of n-dodecane (C12H26), the closest approximation to Diesel fuel, at a liquid-vapour interface in equilibrium state are briefly described. It is shown that molecules at the liquid surface need to gain relatively large translational energy to evaporate. Vapour molecules with large tran...

This comment by the author discusses paragraph 3.3. Adiabatic Phenomena—An Analogy of the published article [1]. The paragraph draws an incorrect analogy between Maxwellian gases such as found in the atmosphere, and non-Maxwellian gases embodied, for example, by electrical carriers in thermoelectric materials. As reported by the author in more recent articles, Maxwellian gases do not produce sp...

We prove that Gevrey regularity is propagated by the Boltzmann equation with Maxwellian molecules, with or without angular cut-off. The proof relies on the Wild expansion of the solution to the equation and on the characterization of Gevrey regularity by the Fourier transform.

In this paper we study the viscosity analysis of the spatially homogeneous Boltzmann equation for Maxwellian molecules. We first show that the global existence in time of the mild solution of the viscosity equation ( , ) t v f Q f f f          . We then study the asymptotic behaviour of the mild solution as the coefficients 0    , and an estimate on 0 f f   is derived.

We prove that the Cauchy problem associated to the radially symmetric spatially homogeneous non-cutoff Boltzmann equation with Maxwellian molecules enjoys the same Gelfand-Shilov regularizing effect as the Cauchy problem defined by the evolution equation associated to a fractional harmonic oscillator.

This paper presents several efficient, exact acceptance–rejection methods for generating the Maxwellian inflow distribution, the velocity distribution of gas molecules crossing a plane. The new methods are demonstrated to be computationally faster and more accurate than the schemes commonly used for open boundary conditions in particle simulations. 2006 Elsevier Inc. The evaporation of a liquid slab into vacuum is studied by numerical solutions of the Enskog-Vlasov equation for a fluid of spherical molecules interacting by Sutherland potential. The main aim of this work is to obtain the structure of the vapor-liquid interface in non-equilibrium conditions as well as the distribution function of evaporating molecules. The results show that the distribution f...

A new energy flux model is proposed for use in the Information Preservation (IP) method. The primary objective of the present study is to relax the local thermal equilibrium assumption in the previous Information Preservation method. The new IP model is constructed by assuming that the real molecules represented by a simulation particle follow a Maxwellian distribution defined by the preserved ...
