The adsorption of the amino acid, l -lysine, on two ZSM-5 having different silicon to aluminium ratio (i.e. Si/Al = 15 and 37) has been investigated by experiments at macroscopic atomistic level resolution. kinetic equilibrium constants processes obtained for both materials, show that Al content is an important factor in tuning acid zeolite. Both saturation capacity binding constant decrease as...

Small angle neutron scattering (SANS) data are reported from a system that models the contamination of a clay/organic matter soil from a fuel spillage. The soil was represented as an aqueous dispersion of the synthetic clay mineral Laponite coated with lysine, and the contaminant was a representative jet fuel, quadricyclane, mixed with the detergent cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB). The ad...

We present a novel strategy to fabricate anisotropic multicompartment Janus capsules by embedding larger containers into a soft poly-L-lysine/hyaluronic acid (PLL/HA) polymeric film, followed by adsorption of smaller containers on top of their unmasked surface. This research is also attractive for developing substrates for cell cultures.

In this paper, novel L-lysine-modified graphene oxide (Lys-GO) was synthesized through amidation. The morphological and structural properties of Lys-GO were characterized using infrared spectrometry, scanning electronic microscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The as-prepared Lys-GO material was systematically investigated in a series of batch adsorption experiments for the removal of m...

The development of environmentally friendly sorbents with a high adsorption capacity is an essential problem in the removal of heavy metals from drinking water. In this study, magnetic gelatin was prepared using transglutaminase as a cross-linker, which could only catalyze an acyl-transfer reaction between lysine and glutamine residues of the gelatin and not affect other amino groups. Therefore...

Monolayers formed of normal mouse spleen cells attached to polystyrene coated with poly-L-lysine were tested for their ability to bind specifically antigen-reactive cells in normal or primed mouse spleen. 88 to greater than 98% of the activity of cytotoxic populations was removed by a single adsorption. However, normal spleen cells or spleen cells previously primed in vitro could not be deplete...

We show that a microfabricated field-effect sensor located at the terminus of a freestanding cantilever can detect surface potential changes resulting from the adsorption of charged molecules in an aqueous environment. The charge sensitive region, defined by lightly doped silicon, is embedded within the heavily doped silicon cantilever. Since both the electrical trace and sensitive region are p...
