The use of loudspeaker arrays to create a spatial impression within an auditorium requires the exact knowledge of the synthesized wave eld. The interaction between loudspeaker array and the enclosure can be investigated by numerical simulation. A new method for the computation of dynamical 3D sound elds is applied to obtain the impulse response from a loudspeaker array to the listening positions.

Multichannel microphone array designs often use the localisation curves that have been derived for 2-0 stereophony. Previous studies showed that side and rear perception of phantom image locations require somewhat different curves. This paper describes an experiment conducted to evaluate localisation curves using an octagonal loudspeaker setup. Interchannel level differences were produced betwe...

The nonlinear response of the loudspeaker is a undesired phenomenon which produces audible distortion. The construction of the loudspeaker is a trade-off between various factors and therefore makes it difficult to build a linear loudspeaker. This work takes another approach to address this issue. By using digital signal processing, the terminal voltage can be pre-distorted to compensate for the...

The nonlinear damping behavior is usually ignored in the design of a miniature moving-coil loudspeaker. But when the loudspeaker operated in air, the damping parameter varies with the voice-coil displacement corresponding due to viscous air flow. The present paper presents an identification model as inverse problem to identify the nonlinear damping parameter in the lumped parameter model for th...

The objective of this project was to use a standoff microphone array to suppress feedback for a microphone-loudspeaker system in an indoor environment. When the gain on the amplifying loudspeaker is too high, the sounds from the loudspeaker that are picked by the microphone keep being re-amplified until there is a loud squeal in a process called feedback. This limits the amount of gain that can...

This paper is concerned with the study of low-cost, low-power thermoacoustic electricity generators. Based on target electrical output power values of 50 and 100 W, three standing wave prototypes (of both one-stage and two-stage prototypes) integrating a commercial loudspeaker with different coupling arrangements are conceived. Each stage consists of a square-pore stack sandwiched between hot a...

This manuscript, the second of a two-part series, shows how discrete-time circuital model loudspeakers, which is extensively analyzed in first part, can be exploited to develop method for loudspeaker virtualization. used alter behavior physical such way match that target loudspeaker. Examples applications include equalization or linearization. The characterized by structure called Direct-Invers...
