Normal rabbits were injected intravenously with horseradish peroxidase (HRP) and 125I-labeled human low density lipoprotein (LDL), and the aortas were perfusion-fixed. Subsequent visualization of HRP in the aortas was produced by reaction of the tissue with diaminobenzidine and hydrogen peroxide. The luminal surface of the aortas showed many small punctate foci of brown reaction product to the ...

SUMMARY We report the serial MR findings and histologic features of intracerebral xanthoma in a patient with hyperlipidemia. MR imaging revealed nodule formations with variable degrees of edema and enhancement in the perivascular spaces. In some lesions, high-signal-intensity foci were observed on unenhanced T1-weighted images, which suggest lipid contents of the lesion.

Background: Despite several studies many questions remain regarding how varicocele develops its adverse effect on testicular tissue. Spermatogenesis cell lineage needs carbohydrates as a main source of energy for cell division. Any disruption in glucose transporting system in seminiferous tubules results in remarkable decrease in germinal cells biological function. Therefore present study was c...

A rare case of bilateral fat necrosis of the breast is reported. The patient was a 50-year-old unmarried woman having no history of trauma, disease or surgery of the breast. In the bilateral breasts, ill-defined, firm masses with skin retraction were noted. Bilateral breast cancer was diagnosed clinically. However, both lesions showed histologically chronic granulomatous inflammation with foci ...

Processed and red meat consumption is associated with the risk of colorectal cancer. Meta-analyses have suggested that the risk associated with processed meat is higher. Most processed meats are cured and cooked, which leads to formation of free nitrosyl heme. We speculated that free nitrosyl heme is more toxic than native myoglobin. The promoting effect of a freeze-dried, cooked, cured ham die...

Lipid droplets (LDs) are cellular organelles specialized in triacylglycerol (TG) storage undergoing homotypic clustering and fusion. In non-adipocytic cells with numerous LDs this is balanced by poorly understood droplet dissociation mechanisms. We identify non-muscle myosin IIa (NMIIa/MYH-9) and formin-like 1 (FMNL1) in the LD proteome. NMIIa and actin filaments concentrate around LDs, and for...

Lipid histiocytosis of the gallbladder neck lymph node is rarely reported nowadays. Two obese patients presented with gallbladder lithiasis detected on CT scan. The treatment consisted in coelioscopic cholecystectomy. Microscopy revealed subacute/chronic lithiasic cholecystitis and foci of vacuolated cells in the gallbladder neck lymph node. These cells were positive for CD68, CD31, S100 protei...

introduction: photon attenuation in tissues is the primary physical degrading factor limiting both visual qualitative interpretation and quantitative analysis capabilities of reconstructed single photon emission computed tomography (spect) images. the aim of present study was to investigate the effect of attenuation correction on the detection of activation foci following statistical analysis w...

Breast cancer is one of the leading causes cancer-related death in women. Currently, treatment breast limited by lack effectively targeted therapy and patients often suffer from higher severity, metastasis, resistance. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) consist lipid bilayers that encapsulate a complex cargo, including proteins, nucleic acids, metabolites. These bioactive cargoes have been found to p...
