Single crystals of methylammonium lead trihalide perovskites (MAPbX3; MA = CH3NH3(+), X = Br(-) or I(-)) have shown remarkably low trap density and charge transport properties; however, growth of such high-quality semiconductors is a time-consuming process. Here we present a rapid crystal growth process to obtain MAPbX3 single crystals, an order of magnitude faster than previous reports. The pr...

The P23T mutation in the human gammaD-crystallin gene has in recent years been associated with a number of well known cataract phenotypes. To understand the molecular mechanism of lens opacity caused by this mutation, we expressed human gammaD-crystallin (HGD), the P23T mutant, and other related mutant proteins in Escherichia coli and compared the structures and thermodynamic properties of thes...

SUMMARY – An ActiveX component to calculate temperature and vapour fraction in a geothermal reservoir using the quartz solubility geothermometry was written in Visual Basic. The approach is based on the conservation of mass and energy (enthalpy). Four representative types of regression equations for quartz solubility: (i) a quadratic regression equation of 1/T and pressure P, (ii) a linear equa...

Solubility of proteins on overexpression in Escherichia coli is a manifestation of the net effect of several sequence-dependent and sequence-independent factors. This study aims to delineate the relationship between the primary structure and solubility on overexpression. The amino acid sequences of proteins reported to be soluble or to form inclusion bodies on overexpression in E. coli under no...

Inverse gas chromatography, (IGC), has been used to measure interaction parameters in two low-molar-mass liquid crystals and a polymer substituted with the same mesogenic group. Solubility parameters have been calculated. The IGC method is shown to be applicable to this class of compounds and to give meaningful values over a range of temperatures.

We link recently developed approaches to the inverse spectral problem (due to Simon and myself, respectively). We obtain a description of the set of Simon’s A functions in terms of a positivity condition. This condition also characterizes the solubility of Simon’s fundamental equation.

Amorphous solid dispersions (ASDs) are a promising formulation approach for poorly soluble active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), because they ideally enhance both dissolution rate and solubility. However, the mechanism behind this is not understood in detail. In the present study, we investigated the supramolecular and the nano/microparticulate structures that emerge spontaneously upon disp...
