An infrared thermography equipment is used to measure the temperature rise at the rear surface of a sample submitted to the pulse irradiation of a flash source, in order to derive simultaneously two thermal properties of the sample. The Levemberg Marquadt technique is used to match the experimental data to the analytical model. Care is taken to tune sample features and the experimental set-up. ...

Infrared thermography is a modern measuring method for the examination of redeveloped and non-renovated buildings. Infrared cameras provide a means for temperature measurement in building constructions from the inside as well as from the outside. Thus heat bridges can be detected. It has been shown that infrared thermography is also applicable for finding the exact position of heating tubes or ...

In this paper, a technique is presented to detect micro-cracks on photo-voltaic cells by infrared thermography. The originality of the system comes from the thermoelectric stimulation used to generate thermal transients at micro-crack locations. These thermal transient are picked-up by an infrared cameras for further detection.

Surface temperature drives many ecological processes and infrared thermography is widely used by ecologists to measure the thermal heterogeneity of different species' habitats. However, the potential bias in temperature readings caused by distance between the surface to be measured and the camera is still poorly acknowledged. We examined the effect of distance from 0.3 to 80m on a variety of th...

Composite materials have appropriate thermal properties for detection flaws by means of non-destructive infrared thermography methods. Infrared thermography methods are based on tracking heat flow that has been induced by flood lamps. Lock-in thermography, as one of infrared thermography methods, is used in detection of flaws. Surface of specimen is periodically heated by heat flow in form of s...

Infrared thermography is used for measuring and analyzing physiological functions and pathology related to the body’s thermal homeostasis and temperature. This review provides an overview of the technological advantages of infrared imaging, with the focus on new advances in and opportunities for infrared imaging, as a reliable medical diagnostic tool. The review has four main parts. Firstly, a ...

We theoretically and numerically analyze thermal invisibility based on the concept of scattering cancellation and mantle cloaking. We show that a small object can be made completely invisible to heat diffusion waves, by tailoring the heat conductivity of the spherical shell enclosing the object. This means that the thermal scattering from the object is suppressed, and the heat flow outside the ...

Macropores and water flow in soils and substrates are complex and are related to topics like preferential flow, nonequilibrium flow, and dual-continuum. Hence, the quantification of the number of macropores and the determination of their geometry are expected to provide a better understanding on the effects of pores on the soil's physical and hydraulic properties. This exploratory study aimed a...
