Results: Incidence of incomplete excision was 12% and involvement of the deep margin was observed in 54% of these lesions. Factors related to incomplete excision were infiltrative, morpheic and micronodular subtypes, lesions larger than 20 mm, those repaired by skin grafts and those that received local anesthesia. There was no statistically significant difference in age, sex, site of lesions an...
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the treatment failure rate of large loop excision of the transformation zone (LLETZ) in the treatment of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) and the risk of persistence or recurrence depending on the clinicopathologic factors. MATERIAL AND METHOD Retrospective case-record review of 250 women who had a final diagnosis of CIN and underwent LLETZ in Rajavithi Hospitalf...
Forty acoustic neuromas have been removed surgically between 1976 and 1986. The condition was unilateral in 32 and bilateral in four. There were 31 large, four medium and five small tumours. Excision was complete in 16 and incomplete in 24. Of the incomplete removals 14 were subtotal leaving microscopic remnants, eight were partial capsular and two were intracapsular. Follow-up ranged from two ...
Incomplete resection of choledochal cysts (CCs) that extend deep into the pancreas can lead to protein plug or stone formation, pancreatitis, and cholangiocarcinoma. We encountered two cases of choledocholithiasis in remnant intrapancreatic CCs, in which the patients exhibited symptoms after 3 and 21 years of cyst excision. A 21-year-old woman who had undergone excision of a CC, as a neonate, p...
Lymphangiomas are benign lesions but are associated with high morbidity when they become very large, occur in critical locations, or when surgically removed, develop secondary wound infections. Almost all lesions require surgical treatment. Complete excision is curative; however, relapses must be anticipated with incomplete excision. We report the case of a patient with a long history of massiv...
A pyogenic granuloma is a prevalent inflammatory hyperplasia of connective tissue. These lesions develop as reactive tissue response to low-grade local irritation, trauma, and hormonal imbalances. Morphologically, it may present single exophytic nodule or sessile papule, with smooth lobulated surface, on pedunculated base. hemorrhagic range in size from few millimeters several centimetres vary ...
Clinicopathological Factors Associated with Incomplete Excision of Cutaneous Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Primary muscular hydatidosis is rare and usually presents as an asymptomatic, slowly growing mass mimicking a soft tissue tumour. Adequate preoperative planning and wide excision is recommended, as incomplete excision may lead to anaphylactic reactions and local recurrence. It should be considered in the differential diagnosis of soft tissue tumours especially in regions endemic for the parasite.
AIMS To assess the relation between the grade and the status of follow up cytology, the completeness of loop excision biopsies with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN), and the findings at follow up cytology, as well as the differences between complete and incomplete exclusion, using the odds ratio. Treatment failure was assessed. METHODS 1600 women with CIN (290 CIN1, 304 CIN2, 1006 CIN...
