Dear Editor, the liver fluke infestation caused by Opisthorchis viverrini, infection is very common in tropical Southeast Asia. This infection can cause chronic liver problem and can induced the carcinogenesis at hepatobiliary system. The long term chronic opisthorchiasis is proved as an important cause of the hepatobiliary cancer namely cholangiocacinoma. The patient with cholangiocarcinoma us...

Until 2000 it was believed that gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) was the sole regulator of hypophyseal gonadotropes. In 2000, the discovery of a gonadotropin inhibitory hormone (GnIH) initiated a revolution in the field of reproductive physiology. Identification of GnIH homologues in mammals, the arginine-phenylalanine- amide (RFamide)-related peptides (RFRPs), indicated a similar function...

Polyribosomes, characterized by sedimentation behavior and electron microscopy, have been prepared from hypophyseal isografts in kidney. These preparations have incorporation ability for amino acids in vitro and can be stimulated for phenylalanine incorporation by polyuridylic acid, similar to the rat liver system. The 100,000 X g supernatant fraction contains a factor which protects the integr...

Incubation of hypothalamo-neurohypophysial explants in Locke's solution containing 28 nM/L thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH) resulted in an inhibition of vasopressin and oxytocin secretion during depolarization due to excess potassium. These data suggest the involvement of TRH in the regulatory mechanisms of vasopressin and oxytocin release; the inhibitory effect of TRH cannot be excluded.

Acute and chronic exposure to high altitude induces various physiological changes, including activation or inhibition of various hormonal systems. In response to activation processes, a desensitization of several pathways has been described, especially in the adrenergic system. In the present study, we aimed to assess whether the hypophyseal hormones are also subjected to a hypoxia-induced decr...
