Clean production of hydrogen from electrochemical water splitting has been known as a green method of fuel production. In this work, electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) was investigated at new prepared layered double hydroxides (LDH) in acidic solution. NiAl/carbon black (CB) LDH was monitored using x-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, scannin...

Understanding how pH affects the activity of hydrogen oxidation reaction (HOR) and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) is key to developing active, stable, and affordable HOR/HER catalysts for hydroxide exchange membrane fuel cells and electrolyzers. A common linear correlation between hydrogen binding energy (HBE) and pH is observed for four supported platinum-group metal catalysts (Pt/C, Ir/C, ...

1. MODELING 1.1 Physical properties Table 1 lists the kinetic parameters assumed for the simplified, one-dimensional model of a photoelectrochemical cell in which the hydrogen-evolution reaction (HER) is catalyzed by platinum at the cathode and the oxygen-evolution reaction (OER) is catalyzed by iridium oxide at the anode. Table 1: List of kinetic parameters for OER and HER Parameter Descriptio...

We report one dimensional (1D) MoS2 nanosheet/porous TiO2 nanowire hybrid nanostructures synthesized by a simple hydrothermal method, leading to an enhanced specific surface area (66 m(2) g(-1)). These 1D hybrid nanostructures as co-catalysts exhibit high activity in visible light photocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) with an enhanced hydrogen generation rate of 16.7 mmol h(-1) g(-1).

It is demonstrated that electrochemical hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) proceeds very efficiently at Au electrode, an inert substrate for HER, modified with BNNS, an insulator. This combination has been reported to be an efficient electrocatalyst for oxygen reduction reaction. Higher efficiency is achieved by using the size controlled BNNS (<1 μm) for the modification and the highest efficien...

Protonatedweak acids commonly used inmicrobial electrolysis cell (MEC) solutions can affect the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) through weak acid catalysis, and by lowering solution resistance between the anode and the cathode. Weak acid catalysis of the HER with protonated phosphate, acetate, and carbonate electrolyte species improved MEC performance by lowering the cathode’s overpotential b...
