Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a non-invasive potential imaging method to diagnose the cartilage disorder. Degeneration of the articular cartilage has been recognized as the main cause of osteoarthritis (OA). Normally OA refers to the end-stage which is already incurable. Therefore, in this study, a noninvasive method is develop to characterize the grayscale of the MRI images for articular...

UNLABELLED An original method for simultaneous display of functional and anatomic images, based on frequency encoding (FE), merges color PET with T1-weighted MR brain images, and grayscale PET with multispectral color MR images. A comparison with two other methods reported in the literature for image fusion (averaging and intensity modulation techniques) was performed. METHODS For FE, the Fou...

This thesis presents five new methods for optical flow recovery, all utilising colour as well as intensity information from image sequences. Most work in the field of motion estimation in the past has used intensity information only. The new methods are shown to perform well, some of them outperforming common intensity-only methods. During this research an application was created to enable the ...

We describe the design, fabrication, and experimental demonstration of a circular Dammann grating element generating a point-spread function of two concentric rings with equal intensity. The element was fabricated using grayscale lithography, providing a smooth and accurate phase profile. As a result, we obtained high diffraction efficiency and good uniformity between the two rings.

BACKGROUND The timely diagnosis of presence or absence of reperfusion injury after cardiac operation is critical for the patient's outcome. Whether transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) acquisition of regional grayscale intensity (TI), velocity, and displacement (D) after cardiac operation can discriminate between patients with ST-segment elevation ischemic reperfusion injury (STEIRI) and norm...

Color-deficient observers are often confronted with problems in daily life due to the fact that some colors appear less differentiable than for normal sighted people. So-called daltonization methods have been proposed to increase color contrast for color-deficient people. We propose two methods for better daltonization solutions by Spatial Intensity Channel Replacement Daltonization (SIChaRDa)....

We study statistical detection of grayscale objects in noisy images. The object of interest is of unknown shape and has an unknown intensity, that can be varying over the object and can be negative. No boundary shape constraints are imposed on the object, only a weak bulk condition for the object’s interior is required. We propose an algorithm that can be used to detect grayscale objects of unk...

In this paper we propose a novel interest operator robust to photometric and geometric transformations. Our operator is closely related to the grayscale MSER but it works on the HSV color space, as opposed to the most popular operators in the literature, which are intensity based. It combines a fine and a coarse overlapped quantization of the HSV color space to find maximally stable extremal re...

Compressive imagers acquire images, or other optical scene information, by a series of spatially filtered intensity measurements, where the total number of measurements required depends on the desired image quality. Compressive imaging (CI) offers a versatile approach to optical sensing which can improve size, weight, and performance (SWaP) for multispectral imaging or feature-based optical sen...

The watermarking techniques for grayscale images can be easily extended to handle color images, for this purpose, watermark casting is done by generating three different watermark patterns SR, SG, SB, one for each RGB channel and modifying for each channel, the intensity of the pixels that belong to the corresponding sets AR, AG, AB. The watermark casting and detection procedures for color imag...
