We present results of quenched SU(3) hadron spectroscopy comparing O(a) improved Wilson (Clover) fermions with conventional Wilson fermions. The configurations were generated using an O(a) improved 6-link SU(3) pure gauge action at β’s corresponding to lattice spacings of 0.15, 0.18, 0.20, 0.33, and 0.43 fm. We find evidence that fermionic scaling violations are consistent with O(a) for Clover ...

We define a sparse hermitian lattice Dirac matrix, H, coupling 2n+ 1 Dirac fermions. When 2n fermions are integrated out the induced action for the last fermion is a rational approximation to the hermitian overlap Dirac operator. We provide rigorous bounds on the condition number of H and compare them to bounds for the higher dimensional Dirac operator of domain wall fermions. Our main conclusi...

On the lattice, for Wilson fermions, the chiral Ward Identity is only approximately true, due to discretisation effects. We have a finite renormalisation constant ZA(g) to determine by demanding that a Ward Identity is obeyed to O(a) (with n = 2 for O(a) improved fermions). The ALPHA collaboration [1] has found ZA for quenched fermions using the Schrödinger functional and PCAC; here, alternativ...

: The pursuit for detecting the existence of Majorana fermions is a challenging task in condensed matter physics at present. In this work, we theoretically propose a novel nonlinear optical method for probing Majorana fermions in the hybrid semiconductor/superconductor heterostructure. Our proposal is based on a hybrid system constituted by a quantum dot embedded in a nanomechanical resonator. ...

We present a new variant of the spinor techniques for calculating the amplitudes of processes involving massive fermions with arbitrary polarization. It is relatively simple and leads to basic spinor products. Our procedure is not more complex than CALCUL spinor techniques for massless fermions. We obtain spinor Chisholm identities for massive fermions. As an illustration, expressions are given...

We study the localization of fermions on a brane embedded in a space-time with AdSn×M geometry. Quantum numbers of localized fermions are associated with their rotation momenta around the brane. Fermions with different quantum numbers have different higher-dimensional profiles. Fermion masses and mixings, which are proportional to the overlap of higher-dimensional profiles of the fermions, depe...

Abstract We explore the conditions under which identical particles in unitary linear networks behave as the other species, i.e. bosons as fermions and fermions as bosons. It is found that the BosonSampling computer of Aaronson & Arkhipov can be implemented in an interference experiment with non-interacting fermions in an appropriately entangled state. Moreover, a scheme is proposed which simula...

We investigate the continuum limit scaling of the scalar condensate in the N f = 2 Schwinger model on the lattice. We employ maximally twisted mass Wilson fermions and overlap fermions. We compute the scalar condensate by taking the trace of the propagator (direct method) and by utilizing the integrated Ward-Takahashi identity. While the scalar condensate comes out consistent using these two me...

Weyl fermions, first proposed for describing massless chiral Dirac fermions in particle physics, have not been observed yet in experiments. Recently, much effort has been devoted to explore Weyl fermions around band touching points of single-particle energy dispersions in certain solid state materials (named Weyl semimetals), similar as graphene for Dirac fermions. Here we show that such Weyl s...
