Exfoliated graphite electrodes have been used to detect uric acid at neutral pHs, by following its oxidation. A linear range of 5 ± 53 M and a detection limit of 5 M are observed at a pH of 7.0. Uric acid was found to be selectively adsorbed on exfoliated graphite surface in the presence of excess ascorbic acid. This leads to its selective determination in the presence of ascorbic acid. Simulta...

We report a new 2-D inorganic-organic framework material, MnDMS [Mn 2,2-dimethylsuccinate], featuring weakly bound hybrid layers in its bulk crystals that can be readily exfoliated into nanosheets via ultrasonication. The fully exfoliated hybrid nanosheets correspond to a unilamellar thickness of about 1 nm, while the partially exfoliated nanosheets (multilayer films) exhibit a typical thicknes...

The electrochemical exfoliation of graphite via intercalation is one of the attractive methods to obtain graphene. However, presence of course graphite particles in product is the drawback of this method. In this research, the effect of adding cetyl trimethyl ammonium chloride (CTAC), on the amount of exfoliated graphene and functional groups was studied. Transmission electron microscopy, weigh...

A two-dimensional crystal of molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) monolayer is a photoluminescent direct gap semiconductor in striking contrast to its bulk counterpart. Exfoliation of bulk MoS2 via Li intercalation is an attractive route to large-scale synthesis of monolayer crystals. However, this method results in loss of pristine semiconducting properties of MoS2 due to structural changes that occur ...

Large-flake graphene membranes up to 300 microm(2) can be exfoliated from graphite by oleyl amine based on solvothermal conditions. The exfoliated graphene sheets are of high quality and have few defects. The graphene dispersion, predominantly composed of monolayer graphene, had a high concentration of 0.15 mg ml(-1), and can be stabilized against re-aggregation.

Gold-mediated exfoliation of ultralarge optoelectronically perfect monolayers with lateral dimensions up to ≈500 μm is reported. Electrical, optical, and X-ray photo-electron spectroscopy characterization show that the quality of the gold-exfoliated flakes is similar to that of tape-exfoliated flakes. Large-area flakes allow manufacturing of large-area mono-layer transition metal dichalcogenide...

Strong quantization effects and tuneable near-infrared photoluminescence emission are reported in mechanically exfoliated crystals of γ-rhombohedral semiconducting InSe. The optical properties of InSe nanosheets differ qualitatively from those reported recently for exfoliated transition metal dichalcogenides and indicate a crossover from a direct to an indirect band gap semiconductor when the I...

When mechanically exfoliated two-dimensional (2D) materials are used for device applications, their properties strongly depend on the geometry and number of layers present in the flake. In general, these properties cannot be modified once a device has been fabricated out of an exfoliated flake. In this work we present a novel nano-patterning method for 2D material based devices, Pulsed eBeam Ga...

We report a simple yet versatile method to simultaneously achieve the exfoliation and reduction of graphite oxide. By treating graphite oxide powders in a commercial microwave oven, reduced graphite oxide materials could be readily obtained within 1 min. Extensive characterizations showed that the as-prepared materials consisted of crumpled, few-layer thick and electronically conductive graphit...
