The spermathecae and egg morphology of Stenozygum coloratum (Klug, 1845) were examined with light scanning electron microscopy, their external was characterized in detail (egg chorion surface, operculum, aero-micropylar processes, spermatheca morphology). Eggs barrel-shaped; operculum round the hatching line can be easily distinguished photograph. batches usually consist 12 eggs. Because thick ...

Variation in early life history traits often leads to differentially expressed morphological and behavioral phenotypes. We investigated whether variation in egg size and emergence timing influence subsequent morphology associated with migration timing in juvenile spring Chinook Salmon, Oncorhynchus tshawytscha. Based on evidence for a positive relationship between growth rate and migration timi...

The chorionic structures of mayfly eggs can be categorized into three main classes (micropyles, attachment structures and chorionic sculpturing), according to their physiological function. Each class of structure shows a great variability as regards morphology, arrangement and distribution on the eggshell, and the combination of these features is the result of very particular chorionic patterns...

ABSTRACT: This paper presents the results of studies concerned with the preparation of fresh food foams based on egg white and various hydrocolloids including Iranian gum tragacanth, guar and xanthan gums at different concentrations (0.002-0.040% w/w). The basic physical parameters of the obtained foams such as overrun, stability and morphology of gas bubbles were measured. Viscosity measuremen...

Data on the morphology of the egg, mature larva (L3) and pupa of Squamapion elongatum (Germar, 1817) are presented. The development cycle of this species lasts 51-54 days: a 12-day egg period, a 30-day larval period, and a 12-day pupal period, on average. The larvae are attacked by parasitic hymenopterans of the superfamily Chalcidoidea.

1. Optimal egg size theory predicts that females should produce propagules of a size and number that maximize maternal fitness. However, studies of the allocation of resources to eggs have rarely provided evidence of such optimization. This is presumably because of constraints that limit reproductive allocation. One such example is that of pelvic aperture morphology constraining egg size in tur...
