HLA-B27- responder cells were stimulated in vitro with HLA-B27.1+ lymphoblastoid cell lines, and alloreactive CTL clones were obtained by limiting dilution. Three of these clones specifically lysed B27.1+ targets. In addition, they also lysed homozygous DR2 targets with various degrees of efficiency, depending on the Dw specificity of the target cell. All three clones possessed a homogeneous CD...

By using a panel of HLA-D-defined subtypes of HLA-DR2 HCL with known beta chain structural variabilities, we have demonstrated that HLA-DR2, OKT4+ cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) clones specific for measles virus are apparently restricted to a distinct DR beta chain. The presence of this DR beta 2 molecule correlated precisely with the susceptibility of measles virus-infected HLA-DR2 HCL to lysis ...

HLA-DR2 is associated with susceptibility to multiple sclerosis (MS). A peptide from human myelin basic protein (MBP, residues 85-99) was previously found to bind to purified HLA-DR2 (DRA, DRB1*1501) and to be recognized by human MBP-specific T cell clones. Soluble HLA-DR2 was expressed in the baculovirus system by replacing the hydrophobic transmembrane regions and cytoplasmic segments of DRal...

OBJECTIVE The expression of somatostatin receptors (SSTRs) and dopamine receptor 2 (DR2) in neuroendocrine tumors is of clinical importance as somatostatin analogues and dopamine agonists can be used for their localization and/or treatment. The objective of this study is to examine the expression of the five SSTR subtypes and DR2 in lung carcinoids (LCs). METHODS We conducted a retrospective ...

Susceptibility to multiple sclerosis is associated with the human histocompatibility leukocyte antigen (HLA)-DR2 (DRB1*1501) haplotype. The structure of HLA-DR2 was determined with a bound peptide from human myelin basic protein (MBP) that is immunodominant for human MBP-specific T cells. Residues of MBP peptide that are important for T cell receptor recognition are prominent, solvent exposed r...

BACKGROUND Dopamine receptor 2 (DR2) expressions on B cells from Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients has been found to be negatively correlated with disease activity and can potentially predict the response to treatment. This study aimed to investigate the role of B cell DR2 expression on bone remodeling in RA. METHODS Patients with RA (n = 14) or osteoarthritis (OA; n = 12), and healthy contr...

The association between HLA specificities and leprosy was investigated in a southern Brazilian population. One hundred and twenty-one patients and 147 controls were typed for HLA-A, B, Cw, DR and DQ. Patients were subdivided into the following subgroups, according to clinical, histological and immunological criteria: lepromatous (N = 55), tuberculoid (N = 32), dimorphous (N = 20), and indetermi...

Genetic susceptibility to insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM) is associated with the HLA-DR3 and DR4 haplotypes. The HLA-DR2 haplotype is negatively associated with IDDM, an association that has been interpreted as dominant protection. Here, we describe the molecular analysis of the HLA class II genes in an unusual family with three HLA-DR1/2 siblings, all of whom have IDDM. With polymer...

Newly recognized Fic family virulence proteins may be important in many bacterial pathogens. To relate cellular mechanisms to pathogenesis and immune protection, we studied the cytotoxicity of the Histophilus somni immunoglobulin-binding protein A (IbpA) direct repeat 2 Fic domain (DR2/Fic) for natural host target cells. Live virulent IbpA-producing H. somni strain 2336, a cell-free culture sup...

HLA typing of 71 patients with chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) showed an overall increase in frequencies of HLA-A3, -B7, -DR2 as well as concomitantly decreased frequencies of HLA-44 and DR7. The strongest associations were seen with HLA-DR2, -DR7 and -B44 in CIDP overall, although they did not reach statistical significance.
