This study compares the performance of a 3-h dipstick trehalose test with GLABRATA RTT, a new commercially available 20-min test for the rapid identification of Candida glabrata. With the exception of blood agar, GLABRATA RTT gave reliable results with all media tested and was always superior to the dipstick test.

BACKGROUND Visceral Leishmaniasis (VL), a severe parasitic disease, could be fatal if diagnosis and treatment is delayed. Post kala-azar dermal leishmaniasis (PKDL), a skin related outcome, is a potential reservoir for the spread of VL. Diagnostic tests available for VL such as tissue aspiration are invasive and painful although they are capable of evaluating the treatment response. Serological...

A homemade enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and a dipstick assay (Dipstick) for the detection of anti-Entamoeba histolytica antibodies in serum were developed and evaluated together with a commercially available latex agglutination test (LAT; Laboratoires Fumouze) for their use in serodiagnosis of amebiasis. The sensitivity of these assays was evaluated with sera from 27 patients with ...

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is usually diagnosed using the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) or kidney damage markers. The urine dipstick test is a widely used screening tool for albuminuria, a CKD marker. Accurate serological confirmation of dengue (DEN) infection is difficult, because simple reliable assays for the detection of DEN antibodies are not available. To address this problem, a dipstick enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was evaluated. The dipstick contained dots of serially diluted DEN 2 antigen. To detect immunoglobulin G (IgG), the dipstick was processed through four reactio...

We performed a multicenter evaluation of a robust and easily performed dipstick assay for the serodiagnosis of human leptospirosis. The assay is aimed at the detection of Leptospira-specific immunoglobulin M (IgM) antibodies. The study involved 2,665 serum samples collected from 2,057 patients with suspected leptospirosis in 12 countries on five continents with different levels of endemicity an...
