The first paper of this series (1) reported the results of tests of the carcinogenic activity of cer tam analogs of p-dimethylaminoazobenzene (DAB) in which a pyridine ring or a thiazole ring replaced one of the benzene rings of DAB. Due to the presence of the hetero atom or atoms, position isomers are possible in the heterocyclic analogs, and some of these isomers were synthesized and tested. ...

The excited-state dynamics of covalently linked electron donor-acceptor systems consisting of N, N-dimethylaniline (DMA) as electron donor and either perylene (Pe) or cyanoperylene (CNPe) as acceptor has been investigated in a large variety of solvents, including a room-temperature ionic liquid, by using femtosecond time-resolved fluorescence and absorption spectroscopy. The negligibly small so...

With 4-fluoro-N,N-dimethylaniline (DMA4F), only a single fluorescence from a locally excited (LE) state is observed, irrespective of solvent polarity, temperature, and excitation wavelength. The relatively small excited state dipole moment μe = 7.3 D confirms the identification as LE. The single exponential fluorescence decays in the nonpolar n-hexane (2.04 ns) and in the strongly polar acetoni...

is a new fluorescent thymidine mimic composed of 2'-deoxyuridine fused to dimethylaniline. exhibits the same pKa and base pairing characteristics as native thymidine residues, and its fluorescence properties are highly sensitive to nucleobase ionization, base pairing and metal binding.

Cyanostilbene modified with dimethylaniline (CMD) could self-assemble into vesicles and fibrous morphologies depending on the solvophobic properties. Furthermore, morphology of well-defined nanostructures could be changed with enhanced emission triggered by the photo-isomerization of cyanostilbene. The present system has potential for building luminescent color conversion materials.

The N-oxidation of NN-dimethylaniline was studied by using a reconstituted rabbit liver microsomal enzyme system consisting of highly purified cytochrome P-448, NADPH-cytochrome c reductase and lipid factor. Both cytochrome P-448 and NADPH-cytochrome c reductase were required for optimum N-oxygenating activity; the catalytic capacity of the reductase fraction for supporting N-oxide formation va...

This study addresses the free energy dependence of charge recombination following photoinduced bimolecular electron transfer in three different solvents of either inert (acetonitrile and benzyl acetate) or reactive (N,N-dimethylaniline) character. Femtosecond time-resolved fluorescence and transient absorption have been used to determine the time scales for charge recombination. In pure N,N-dim...
